What is USB?
Commonly found on desktop computers and laptops, USB connections are among the most versatile type of connections. USB is primarily used for transferring data between devices, but it also has the ability to transfer power between compatible devices. Currently four versions of USB exist – USB 3.1 (10Gbps), USB 3.0 (5Gbps), USB 2.0 (480Mbps) and USB 1.1 (12Mbps). In most cases cables are compatible across all versions but maximum transfer speed may be limited. For example, a USB 2.0 cable in a USB 3.0 port would only provide a maximum transfer rate of 480Mbps, not 5Gbps. To achieve optimum transfer speeds here, a USB 3.0 cable should be used.

Why use this USB A to eight pin mini USB cable?
This cable uses a standard male USB-A 2.0 connection to eight-pin mini USB (also known as UC-E6) connection and is specifically designed for connecting a range of digital cameras to your desktop or laptop computer. Sony, Kodak and Nikon models are an example of cameras that use an eight-pin mini connection.

Please note: Maplin Electronics recommends consulting your camera documentation for compatibility before purchase.

Is there a longer version of this cable and is it compatible with a Nikon D750? Thank you.

Asked by: Stuart
Yes we sell this cable in a longer 5 meter length However this cable is NOT suitable for a Nikon D750 as it uses a unique proprietary USB connection. The D750 utilises a connection like this Unfortunately Maplin do NOT stock such a cable but they are available from most good retailers of photographic supplies.
