Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine, once you get the drivers!!! I bought this this week after being told it was the best solution to my networking problem. However it was not made clear that there is a CD Drive required to install it. However, once i'd spoken to customer service they resolved it immediately - the driver link is on the questions page here and CAN be downloaded no problems.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Driver description could be much clearer. Like others, bought (in-store) for a new Macbook Pro. Surprised to see the driver came on a mini CD, rendering it useless to all modern Macbooks. There are drivers available online, not from Maplin it has to be said but from the manufacturer of the device. See page 7 of the instruction book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Working on Windows 8,1 I just got this at a Maplin because the one I ordered on Amazon, despite being advertised as working with Windows 8.1, didn't. So, in a rash move, I decided that buying one from Maplin that didn't even say it would work with Windows past 7, would be a good idea. Still to my surprise it works beautifully, plugged in and the drivers downloaded and it's running like a charm. Obviously I cannot guarantee that it will work on your Windows 8 machine, but it was a pleasant surprise for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with WINDOWS 10 I bought mine because i thought my laptop ethernet port was faulty . When i got home i plugged an ethernet cable into the adapter and plugged it straight into my desktop PC in a USB 3 port whilst actually in windows 10 running . I waited about 10 seconds and the ethernet icon showed up on my desktop bottom bar and it was working

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life saver I was left without internet access when my desktop Ethernet port shorted after adding a USB3 card. I thought this would involve expensive repairs, perhaps a new motherboard but searching online (via phone) I found this adapter. I plugged it into a USB2 port and it worked right away under Windows 10. Back online I was able to download the drivers for the USB3 port. Such an easy solution to a scary problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Incomplete Specfications This requires your computer to have a CD drive to install. This is not listed as a requirement and you cannot see the small CD until you open the package. There is no driver download available. I bought this for my macbook air and it is clear this is not the first time this has arisen. In the QandA someone has raised this issue and was told he would be emailed the driver. I will have to try and arrange the same. This issue should have been addressed. The packing should mention the CD and and the driver should be available for download.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs drivers I specifically bought this because I want to run from an Android-based "stick" ARM micro computer. Obviously it won't work and I already know that trying to compile drivers for Android on ARM would be a huge task. Luckily, I already have drivers on my Macbook from a similar experience. Otherwise this would have been money down the drain. I specifically asked in store does it need drivers, and I was told "most likely not but if it does it will download automatically". This is not the case and the CD which would have given a clue is well hidden in the box. Please make it clear that this device does need drivers. For someone with a bit of experience it's not too hard to install these BUT a) it's certainly not plug and play and b) won't work with some devices.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of plastic doesn't work without being able to driver sign on Mac (if you had drivers). Spent a lot of time trying to get the drivers then more time trying to get the drivers to run, chucked it, its not worth buying for Mac unless you are very good at using mac coding. Chances are you will ruin your computer before it works. This should say 'Not Mac Compatible' in bold letters on the box.
