Rated 5 out of 5 by from I rely alot on reviews, however I took a gamble with this purchase as no reviews on any website. I purchased this for camping or should I say Glamping! What can I say..excellent speedy delivery, cheapest price compared to other retailers, and it works a treat!! Initially took a while to position dish to obtain signal but once you get the hang of it its a doddle. Thankyou Maplin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deal Super bit of kit and at a very reasonable price. Seen cheaper dishes but by the time you've bought the extra bits such as compass and satfinder as well as the sturdy carry bag supplied (seen similar bags at Ј20 alone) then this kit is a decent deal. The tripod stand is also very good quality and easily set up. With the compass, satfinder and the very useful figures for elevation that are stamped into the clamp for the dish it took me 15 minutes to set the dish up and find the correct satellite for reception. Would recommend this product without reservation

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great dish, using it inside pointed out a window at the moment, instructions could of been a bit better but apart from that it gets good signal quality and only took 30mins to get a it aligned properly with astra2

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got this along with a Freesat receiver for temporary use in a flat (in Dublin). Initially terrible trouble getting a signal lock, then realised the dish just couldn't get a signal from the freesat info transponder - so the Sagem freesat box wouldn't initialise. Connected the Sagem box (also from Maplin and a great deal!) to a good, permanent dish elsewhere, got it tuned in, now it works great with this Maxview dish located indoors, behind a window, and partially obstructed. Took 2 minutes to align (now I have a ruler laid on the floor in case it gets knocked - will tape it down so IT doesn't get moved!). A few Freesat channels (the Eutelsat transponders, as far as I can tell) & the "info" channel aren't picked up (so no full TV guide, just Now&Next) - but 95% do work, including all BBC, ITV, C4/E4/More4, C5, news, movie, etc channels and all the main HD channels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like this a lot I am very pleased with this package Very simple to install Although it would be impossible without the satellite finder gizmo I would recommend with no reservation

I wish to use this system with the 'Outernet' project. The project states that all tv type Sat dishes will do. The signals are taken from the Hotbird 13E or Intelsat IS 20 The band is Ku Frequency 11.471 or 12.552 MHz Delivery DVB-S Modulation QPSK

Will the portable kit have reception in All UK. Also will it tune to Astra 28.2E We want to use touring UK in motorhome.

Asked by: Lofty
To receive broadcast from Astra 28.2e on this kit all you will need clear line of sight to the satellite itself, so yes in theory you can get reception throughout the UK ... as long as you have clear line of sight.

Can this be used in a zone 2 area

Asked by: Gsybil
Zone 2 satellites have more surface area, and are thus effective even in areas with weaker signals. For example, most of Scotland, Ireland, and northern England are areas that may need a Zone 2 satellite. Zone 2 satellites typically have a 60 cm diameter. I would advise a larger dish.
