What is a dehumidifier?
A dehumidifier is used to remove moisture from the air and to manage the humidity within a room. They draw humid air through the unit, where the moisture is drawn out into the tank. Dehumidifiers are commonly used in domestic and office environments to help remove damp and condensation. They are also ideal for rooms that have been water damaged from flooding, burst pipes or an overflowing bathroom. A desiccant dehumidifier is useful in unheated spaces like conservatories, garages, boats and caravans.

How is this dehumidifier unique?
This dehumidifier removes up to eight litres of humidity from the air every day – either into its two litre tank or out using the hose provided. The humidistat ensures that it only runs when it needs to. The dehumidifier is as quiet as a dishwasher in the next room, with 39dBA of noise when in use. It is powered using a mains plug. The built-in control logic, by Meaco, means the dehumidifier operates more efficiently and is able to work more in less time. The Meaco DD8L Junior can operate in a range of temperatures down to 1°C, while being a compact design and weighing only 6.4Kg.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! We too had quite a bad condensation problem in our flat. I used to wipe the windows on cold mornings to mop up the condensation, but no more! Just on the lowest setting it takes a surprising amount of water out of the air. I don't agree with the previous review saying it's too noisy to use in the bedroom, on the minimum setting the fan is really quiet. When my better half has washing drying in the flat, the dedicated 'laundry' setting sucks the water out of the air amazingly quickly and the washing is soon dry. In fact for this setting the water container could really do with being a bit bigger, or if left on overnight it will fill up and switch itself off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid purchase and has been reliable so far I purchased this a couple of weeks back as we had condensation issues in our conservatory and it has been faultless in operation ever since, works a charm on our 3 bed house and the added extra option of the water feed line that you can put into a drain is fantastic! It has several modes with auto shutoff once it recognises the chosen humidity is also a plus. Only thing I would say is that you do have to have it on a while for it to remove the amount of water required as ours was on constantly on first use for nearly 3 days until at 60% humidity and it then turns back on quite quickly after even without laundry being dried (which I must add gets dried very quickly)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I put it on straight away as my condensation on my windows is awful and the humidity level in my flat was at 85 per cent at best. It has been on continuously at normal mode and in just over 24 hrs has collected 6 litres of water and my humidity level is now down to 50 per cent. It has also helped as I have been able to turn my heating off and the warm air from the dehumidifer has been enough to warm all the rooms with it situation in the hallway. A great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dehumidifier Bought this before last winter as live in a large flat with huge single pane windows (built 1850's) that used to stream with condensation when cold outside making black mould grow on the window sill if not cleaned - The amount of water this draws out of the air is amazing, at full tilt it is always full (and auto shut down) if I leave it on while at work and the windows are condensation free now. Added benefit as other reviewer noted is that it chucks out heat (no need to use it in summer) so the waste heat actually warms your home so not really waste heat at all! Once you have got the moisture under control (in a few days) you only need a couple of hours on the lowest setting to maintain correct humidity. I have lots of palms too (which hate city tap water) and they are thriving on the waste water from this machine. All in all I can't recommend highly enough - If you have a condensation problem this is ideal and it has enough variable settings (and a waste hose for continuous use) to satisfy your inner control freak, although I've finally let it do its own thing on the auto settings now that I'm over playing about with it all the time :-) Price is very reasonable too given that it has totally changed my living environment in winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pulls a surprising amount of moisture from the air. Solved our damp problem quickly. Fairly quiet in use (you'd not want it running in a bedroom). Gives out a fair amount of heat, but this warms the room, meaning less extra heating needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very efficient appliance The company I work for bought six of these to give to customers to help with drying out their new property, the feed back I received was that it is an excellent dehumidifier for its size. As a result I now own one myself and I am equally impressed.

What is the lifespan of the desiccant wheel in the product?  Will it lose its humidity absorbing capacity during the years?

Asked by: visitor2
Extracted directly from the Meaco web site Does the desiccant need to be changed? No the machine automatically regenerates the desiccant internally. You will never have to replace it.
