Capable of producing torque up to 705gf.cm (gram-force cm) this compact motor and integrated 231:1 ratio planetary gearbox runs at up to 32 rotations per minute. Running from a DC 1.5-12 volt power supply, the motor can run in either direction by changing the polarity of the input voltage. If space is an issue then this motor is only 15.5mm in diameter and 52.6mm long (64.2mm including shaft) and weighing 46g. It packs a punch in even small projects.
Why use planetary motor gearbox?
Planetary gearbox can be half the size of a conventional gearbox and more efficient allowing smaller motors to be used for the same output. Planetary or epicyclic gearing involves one or more planet gears rotating around a sun gear and an outer ring, the planet gears are often mounted on a carrier that rotates relative to the sun gear.
The motor gearbox can be used in heavy duty industrial, hobby or model applications. This robust motor with integrated planetary gearbox uses sintered bronze bearings, and with its sleeved bearings the metal gearbox allows high torque transfers from the motor through the gear box. The built-in gearbox can increase your turning power (torque) at a reduced rotations per minute from the motor. The optimum ratio for this will depend on your project. Powered by a DC power supply, the motor gearbox outputs to a 3mm shaft to connect to your project. It is not recommended to run this motor gearbox at 1.5V.
