This 516:1 ratio planetary gearbox and motor can produce torque of up to 12000gf.cm (gram-force cm),the equivalent of 1.177Nm, at maximum efficiency (12V), and rotates 25 times per minute. At 83.5 mm (100.5 mm including shaft) long x 32mm in diameter this is a great motor gearbox combination for projects requiring a high torque. The motor can run in either direction by reversing the input voltage, and you can use a power supply of 1.5 to 15 volts.
Why use planetary motor gearbox?
Planetary gearboxes can be half the size of a conventional gearbox and more efficient, allowing smaller motors to be used for the same output. Planetary or epicyclic gearing involves one or more planet gears rotating around a sun gear and an outer ring. The planet gears are often mounted on a carrier that rotates relative to the sun gear.
The motor gearbox can be used in heavy duty industrial, hobby or model applications. It has a five pole motor with sintered bronze bearings, and sleeved bearings on the metal gearbox, allowing high torque transfers from the motor through the gearbox. The built-in gearbox can increase your turning power (torque) at a reduced rotations per minute from the motor. The optimum ratio for this will depend on your project. Powered by a DC power supply, the motor gearbox outputs to a 6mm shaft to connect to your project.
