Product overview

• Use any microphone in ‘Line’ or ‘Aux’ sockets• Simple plug-in operation• Includes plug-in mains adapter

This simple-to-use preamplifier boosts the output from any microphone. This is a 2-channel preamplifier for a stereo microphone or two normal microphones. Input is via two 1/4" sockets and output is via twin phono (RCA) sockets. Powered by plug-in 12V mains adapter (supplied).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have done a few discos for the community near where I live, and I use a laptop with my cd collection converted to mp3's with the sound output going through a pro-sound 1000 amp to two pro-sound speakers. I had a pro-sound microphone that I wanted to use for the discos but the line-in on the laptop wouldn't accept the microphone levels. I purchased the pre-amplifier to see if that would help, and it worked on it's own as input to the amplifier, but trying to use it through the laptop was still not working. Still, either way, the discos were a huge success and I will be continuing with them when I am next asked.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The preamplifier works well but unfortunately the switch-mode power supply currently being supplied with it is very noisy. Substituting a liner power supply module cured the problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The product was bought to enable me to feed a top quality microphone into the line input of my computer. It is far too hissy - even with shorted jacks in the inputs.

I bought the preamp from my local Maplin and I am having problems with it. I have connected it to the phono connection in my technics surround system and when plugged into the power the sound is like a loud fuzzing and the mic can not be heard over this??

Asked by: Llf125
I could only say try swapping the item for a new one, if the fault persists you would need to contact Technics.

Can this be used as a record deck preamp to hifi stereo unit to increase the cartridge input

Asked by: Teddy tails bs20
If you have a magnetic cartridge, this is not the unit you need; the one you want is the QM51F. If your cartridge is a low-output ceramic, use this unit but put a 2.2Megohm resistor in series with the input. (Actual value not critical but no less than 1Meg). I added the resistors to the sockets inside, which is easy to do (will void the guarantee of course), and it now gives excellent results with my old Sonotone 9TAHC.
