Where can I use this two way radio?
Use this PMR 446 radio to keep in touch when hiking through the great outdoors or working on site in the city. With 16 preset channels, this is a great alternative to mobile phones as there is no need for call plans or licenses. This PMR 446 is easy to use and comes with a 2-pin Kenwood connection for an optional microphone and earpiece. You’ll also know if you’ve accidentally hit a button, as there is a beep tone when you press any button.

What is the range on this two way radio?
This two way radio can reach distances of up to 12km in an open space without obstructions. Range can be limited by obstructions like trees, buildings, hills, vehicles and even other people. How built up an areas is will affect range and reception. In open areas with obstructions such as trees and houses the unit will reach between four and six kilometres, and in heavily built up areas the range will be between one and two kilometres.

What frequencies does the radio use?
This PMR 446 radio uses 16 pre-set channels and CTCSS and DCS code for privacy channels. The radio can scan to see which channel has activity and squelch reduces noise on your transmissions. With built-in voice activated transmissions, you can send messages even when you don’t have any hands free. Roger bleep makes sure you know transmissions are finished so you don’t miss a thing.

How long can I use this radio for?
Remain in contact with everyone you need to with a 1600mAh battery. The unit comes with a desktop charging cradle for it to sit in for between four and five hours to fully recharge. Use of the power saving function gives you the maximum life from your battery.

Optional programming software (not included) allows you to do more customisation of the radio including deactivation or changing pre-set options like CTCSS codes. You can also activate other options, including a time out function. Be aware that any attempt to change frequencies or output power of the radio invalidates the approval.
