Build your own docking station and blast your music from your MP3 player (not included) with this Mindsets docking station solder kit. You can plug your MP3 player (or any audio device with a 3.5mm socket) straight into the station’s 3.5mm socket, and the screw terminals let you connect two speakers (not included) in the 4-8 ohm range. The stereo amplifier board is powered by batteries, so you can make your own portable speaker system. As it has a compact 35 x 32mm board, this kit can fit in almost anything. With 30 parts, this is a great kit for those familiar with electronics or those looking to improve their soldering skills
What can I learn from this docking station kit?
Ever wondered how a portable speaker works? If so, then this is the kit for you. Practise soldering and learn about electronics and components with this kit. The kit uses resistors, capacitors, microchips and LEDs to create a circuit that amplifies the incoming signal from your MP3 player to allow the speakers to use it to produce sound. This kit requires soldering and you will need a soldering iron and solder. You may also require wire cutters. Once you have soldered your kit, your MP3 player and speakers are easy to connect and disconnect, thereby completing the docking station.
How easy is this kit to solder?
This is a great kit for those looking to progress to more complicated experiments or those who are familiar with electronics. Once you’ve put the kit together and added your own speakers you may want to create an enclosure (not included) to carry it around in or add it to an existing project to provide sound effects. This kit comes with a battery clip and can be run off either four AA batteries (Order Code L43AL) or one
9V (PP3) battery (Order Code L46AL). Batteries are sold separately.
