What could I use this miniature contact for?
This miniature magnetic contact can be used to protect doors and windows, so that if intruders use these to access your property an alarm will sound (once connected to a security system’s control panel). With a small gap of 17mm between the magnet and reed switch before the alarm sounds, this contact is great if you want to add a sensitive sensor to your system.

How much security will this add?
The magnetic contact works by establishing a circuit between itself and the control panel via a security alarm cable. The circuit breaks when a window or door is opened. Due to this device needing to be wired into a security system’s control panel even in the event of an intruder cutting the cable, the siren will still sound.

By installing a magnetic contact, if someone were to leave a window open or ajar (more than 17mm apart) whilst you turn your security alarm on, the siren will also sound. This means that not only does this component protect doors and windows, but it can also act as a reminder if you have accidently left windows open.

Will this miniature contact work with my security system?
This heavy duty magnetic contact will work with any security system that allows for direct wiring. The alarm control panels will require an alarm cable to run between the contact and the control panel (e.g. Order Code: XR89W). Since this is hard wired into the security system there is tamper protection, which means that if someone were to cut the cable the alarm will sound, providing you with added protection.
