About this product

  • WVGA 854 x 480 resolution uses DLP image technology with an aspect ratio of 16:9
  • Utilise an image everyone can see with a maximum of a 60 inch projection
  • An LED lamp operates at 85 Lumens with a 20,000 hour lifecycle

Product overview

• Make presentations in low light level environments with 85 lumens of brightness
• Project a 60-inch screen at a distance of just 2.2m, so you can enjoy your content on the big screen without using too much space
• Enjoy good picture quality with WVGA (854 x 480) resolution, despite the small size
• Obtain a widescreen image through the native 16:9 aspect ratio
• 1000:1 contrast ratio gives you a satisfying array of different colour shades
• Connect your laptop, media player and your smartphone (thanks to MHL support) through HDMI to the projector
• Obtain stereo sound with the two 1W speakers
• Attach the projector to a separate sound system via the 3.5mm audio output and be able to charge USB devices through the USB port
• 3800mAh battery that can be used to power the projector and allows you to power USB devices

How portable is this portable projector?
Able to fit in your pocket, this MP50 projector is simple to use and ready to go in seconds. Simply connect your device to the projector through the included HDMI cable and enjoy your content on the go. You can get approximately two hours of portable use from the projector thanks to the 3800mAh battery. This will let you present virtually anywhere with this projector. Touch buttons for volume control are located at the top of the projector, so you can control the two built-in 1W speakers or plug external speakers into the audio jack for an immersive cinema experience.

What is the picture like?
The MP50 throws out a WVGA (854 x 480 pixel) image resolution at a native aspect ratio of 16:9, so you’ll be sure to get a good widescreen picture. A contrast ratio of 1000:1 gives you a good variety of shades for a vibrant overall image. Emitting 85 lumens of lights at all times, even when running only off the battery, means you can get the same vibrant picture as when you are running off mains power.

How large can I get the screen to be?
Driven by DLP technology, the LED lamp projects a 60-inch screen from 2.2m away. This yields a big screen for you to use without the cost of having to station the projector far away. The projector operates off an LED lamp with an approximate life of over 20,000 hours, so you won’t need to replace it for a long time or maintain it as often as more traditional lamps.

What devices can I connect to the projector?
Laptops, media players and tablets can all connect to this projector and have their content mirrored on the projected screen through a HDMI connection. An HDMI cable with micro HDMI and mini HDMI adapters are included to ensure that a variety of devices can be connected. The inclusion of a micro USB to HDMI cable, with 5-pin to 11-pin Micro USB adapter, lets you also connect your smartphone to the projector with MHL supported. What’s more, a USB port at the back of the MP50 allows you to charge USB devices – with the port providing 5V at 0.5A.

Please note: if you want to connect Apple devices to this projector you will need an Apple 30-pin Digital AV adapter (Order Code: A02NQ) or an Apple Lighting Digital AV adapter (Order Code: A89LQ).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very pleased! After reading reviews online I purchased this projector form the store in Norwich. You will find this projector under several different names and there are some helpful reviews on YouTube. ( often named the brookestone) It is the first projector I have owned and I use it all the time connected to an ipad. Amazing picture quality in my opinion as long as room is fairly dark. The only thing I was disappointed with is that it will not connect to my Samsung s6, but this is the phones problem and not the projectors! The battery life is pretty good, it will last about an hour and a half. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to try a projector instead of a TV. Great purchase for the cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good portable projector I got one of these last week, and was really impressed with it. It is a very portable device, about as long as an iPhone, but square and a bit thicker, and not much heavier. So it fits nicely in my laptop bag without adding a lot of bulk. Brightness level is not bad, but you do need to switch the room lights off to be able to see it clearly - the darker the room the better it is. I found it was fine for client presentations during the day as long as the lights were off, and was good for watching movies on too for occasional use - such as when travelling and staying away from home. Battery life was pretty good, and certainly lasted at least 1.5 hours of continuous use (I've not yet tried to use it longer). I've not used the internal speaker at all as I paired my laptop up with an external bluetooth speaker - and this combination made a pretty good portable cinema. The only negative I have for this is that it comes with its own dedicated DC charger (12v/1.5A) - it would have been nice if it could have drawn power from a USB connection which would have meant one less charger to carry whilst travelling, albeit with longer charging times.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Reviews Good - Product Disappointing I read the reviews and must admit that initially when setting this device up it promised to be truly amazing. I had a presentation to deliver and for the morning session all worked well. However, during my afternoon session the projector just died. Initially I thought it might have run out of battery but even when plugged in to charge there is not even a light to indicate if it is charging. This will be returned to the store tomorrow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from impressed I got one of these today and I'm totally impressed with it. I have previously owned a vga projector that was less than portable I use my Samsung Galaxy 4 as my video player. It's amazing how many films can be put on MicroSD cards! :) I previously purchased the device that plays the output into any device with HDMI input. I did have a 42" 3D telly but also have a pair of Vuzix 3D glasses with HDMI input. They emulate a 75" 3D telly as if viewed from across the other side of the room. The telly is as of now redundant! :) It also works well with the laptop because that's HDMI and the TiVo box and, as I've also mentioned, the phone! I'm thinking of moving soon so this saves having to worry about shipping a television and dvd player because this and the phone fit in my pocket. The glasses also fit in a pocket so I've got the ultimate entertainment system that goes anywhere with me. I can watch my films in privacy on a train but also share them with people when I want to watch them in telly mode. In total chill down mode I can lay on the sofa and plug the earphones in and have my telly where ever I want it! When I go away I don't have to worry about burglars breaking in and nicking the telly and the video player! I regret not buying a HDMI splitter because at the moment I have to get up to change between the phone and the TiVo box but I can deal with that tomorrow. I can also get something to act as a screen but I'm set. I've got the ultimate in chill out now! :) :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap, cheerful and very good! FANTASTIC performance from such a tiny device, works fairly well in bright rooms although obviously built for darkness :P Best projector I have seen for size / price only downside is a fairly loud fan but again not an issue as inbuilt speakers are actually alright

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic quality projector I bought one of these last week and i must say i am very impressed, the quality of the picture is fantastic, i had it up to 97 inches at one point was was still very clear, i weighs alsmost as much as my iphone so very portable, the kids think we now have a cinema at home, well worth a buy, the fan is vey quiet considering the size of the unit, that connected up to my Bose sound link made for a fantastic evenings entertainment

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very lightweight, easy to use I bought this to use for training and we've been plugging it into laptops and using the white office wall as a screen. Couldn't be easier to set up and run, the picture is bright and good quality especially in lower light levels. There is fan noise but it's not instructive. Haven't tried it on longer throws yet. It so far very pleased with it. Excellent value.

Hi will this projector work with a Samsung Galaxy Tab Note 10.1 or other Galaxy TABs? Thanks

Asked by: DJMC
If your device supports HDMI output then Yes. You need to check if the device/devices you own have the ability to output to HDMI. (this is often known as MHL or Micro HDMI Link) *What devices can I connect to the projector? Laptops, media players and tablets can all connect to this projector and have their content mirrored on the projected screen through a HDMI connection. A HDMI cable with micro HDMI and mini HDMI adaptors are included to ensure that a variety of devices can be connected.

What a shame, great product and so easy to use.  Does it mean the bulb cannot be replaced or just that you don't sell a replacement but it can be done?  Please let me know thanks.

Asked by: Pascale
The bulb is not meant to be replaced.

What is the maximum group size you would recommend to use this projector with? I previously had one model down from this and it was unsuitable for groups over 3 people. I will be using the projector for training.

Asked by: CLondonMcr
They are not rated in group size just the size screen that would project at x distance.

Hi, I'm about to leave for travelling with this projector. All of my other devices charge from a usb/three pin plug. But this only came with a large charging plug. Is there a round dc to usb adapter I can buy to solve this problem?

Asked by: Chris
On this occasion Maplin do not stock a product that exactly meets your requirements, or indeed anything close enough to offer you as an alternative.
