How powerful is this two-way radio?
Ten times more powerful than standard PMR446 radios, this two-way radio is perfect for any worksite. With powerful transmission, clear reception and a high capacity 2200mAh battery, you can keep going even longer. You will require a Business Radio Light Licence for use – one licence covers an unlimited number of handsets. The licence is just £75 for 5 years, and you can apply for one using the application form included in the box.* This licenced radio is great for large work areas and built up urban environments. Mitex Site radios are designed to be rugged and dust, water and vibration resistant. A great alternative to mobile phones or land lines, they are perfect for on-site communication.

How far can this radio transmit messages?
This radio is capable of reaching its maximum distance of up to 25km in open country under ideal conditions. In built up areas and cities with obstacles between handsets, the radio is still capable of up to 10km – perfect for work sites, motorbike convoys or even schools and universities. The Mitex Pro PMR broadcasts in the 400-470 MHz ultra-high frequency (UHF) range to get better signal at distance. The radio also has two different channel spans and steps to give you more options.

How many channels do they have?
With 16 channels, you should always be able to find a clear channel. Channel 13, 14 and 15 are common across all Mitex UHF radios, including the security UHF (A69JX) and general UHF (A68JX.). Channel 16 offers a scan function, and channels 1-12 are site-specific frequencies. Use the scan function to find your channel quickly and easily, or you can even use optional voice activated transmission (VOX) for hands-free communications. The unit also has a socket for a headset to use for more covert communications or just to cut down on outside noise.

The Mitex Site 5W Pro PMR is compatible with Kenwood-style headsets. See our range of Mitex headsets and accessories here.

How long can I talk with this unit?
This robust unit is perfect for site work. With its large 2200mAh battery you can get up to 12-14 hours of talk time and up to a whopping 72 hours on standby. After a full shift using the radio, simply place it in the individual mains dock. The handset comes with a soft protective case with a strap to secure it. The radio is pre-programmed and ready to use as soon as it is charged.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Unit Really good value for money unit. We were looking at the Mitex General as we already had a couple we have used for many years and all the reviews are so good. We wanted something for extended outdoor use at a new building project. The site is not a lot more expensive than the General and comes with a much larger battery and a free leather case for added protection, so we went for these in the end. They easily cover the whole of our site, just over a mile with buildings etc and beyond. They are good quality, easy to use and have great clarity. They appear to be very robust and are lasting really well. A great productand great value for money, thanks Maplin.....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the money - Range is only about half a mile and most of the functions referred to on the box and in the product description are not accessible.
