This neat mobile CB antenna is simple and easy to use. Just plug into the back of your radio, place the antenna on your roof or boot and you are ready to go. The antenna is pre-set so no tuning is required.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cheap, nasty, not worth Ј20 Just bought as looked good in store and has a centre loading (in the packaging its in pieces). Got home, got it out and assembled it. It screws together - and its horrid. Cheaply made, crimped joints in the antenna itself which can't be tightened properly. The mag mount base has a very flimsy covering and the entire assembly feels like it's a Blue-Peter project. Utterly disappointed. I have made better aerials myself. There is nothing I can recommend about this aerial. If Maplin sold it for under Ј5, it'd be ok as an emergency aerial - one to carry as a spare in case of dire need. At Ј20, forget it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor quality Bought this mag mount as a cheap adition to get me back on the air and was very dissapointed. The SWR was off the scale and I couldnt get it down! while trying to SWR the antenna my rig (10w) actually melted the load at the bottom of the antenna. I returned to Maplin and purchased a slightly more expensive one which seems to be doing the trick. I would steer clear of this antenna and as it is very low quality and would spend the extra in the 1st instance for something slighly better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mini Mag Purchased one and the SWR was through the roof. Couldn't get it to go down and there was a short in the coax. Replacement wasn't much better as the SWR was 2.0 so took that back and got a refund. I'd suggest spending slightly more and getting something like the Mini Springer if you want a small CB antenna that works fairly well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish Impossible to tweak the swr down to any type of decent level out of the red. Waste of time and money. Unfortunately have mislaid my receipt for a refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for a quick hook up to a car. Not a permanent option If your looking to throw a CB in your car or a friends then this is perfect. Plug your CB into a 12v aux output. Pop this mag mount out the door, stick it on the roof and your away. Range is not vast, but good enough to talk in convoy with friends along the way. I'd not recommend it for a permanent fixture as it's too limited in range and tuning ability. But for a quick setup I'd say it's perfect. Star rating based on what I wanted it to do which was a quick hook up temporary feature in the car.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This cb radio antenna is small and works well, but don't expect to get too much distance with it in built up areas. ok for local contacts, and a good size if you don't want anything too big on your car. You may want to consider one of Maplin's stronger and bigger antenna's though if you wish to get a bit more distance. Good for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dave Bought for use as an indoor antenna for contact with relative, it manages a distance of 1.5 miles with a 4 watt radio, i receive on my Antron 99 which is acceptable my end, SWR is 1.5 mounted on a metal pc table from a first floor flat, as you can see its far from mobile being used outside the box if you like, but its been in use for about 2 years now, i would say entry basic, don't expect miracles but it works fine over modest distances. I gave it a rating of 5 for its category.

Can I use the antenna if not mounted to a vehicle or does it need the ground?

Asked by: Jp28
The mag makes the ground so it will need to be affixed to some form of metal plate for the ground.
