This replacement hand-held antenna is ideal for scanning & amateur radio enthusiasts. It will improve outgoing and incoming signal quality over long distances compared with standard supplied antennas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is tough as old boots and WORKS, I have used it on a variety of Handhelds such as IC-90, FT817, TH-F7, VRX-7, TH-D7, and THD-72E. Also used on a variety of "scanners" it is worth the money paid as it has the build to survive being used when cycling. The extra gain over "stock" antennas is useful.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quite heavy for its size and tends to droop slightly under its own weight, but gave me the additional gain I was looking for compared to the shorter antenna supplied with my Kenwood TH-F7 transceiver. Poor value for money

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I bought one of these antennas about 6 months ago, and have used it often since on a Yaesu VX5. I think is is mechanically good. It is flexible enough to protect the SMA connector on the rig from stress, and rigid enough to support itself. Not cheap, but I was pleased to be able to buy one in my local Maplin shop when I needed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improvement over many manufacturers stock antennas Fitted to a Yaesu FT-2DE and both the receive and the transmit are better than the original supplied aerial. Do take note that SMA connectors are available in two standards, i.e. Male and Female types. This aerial has a Male end, so it will not fit Baofeng transceivers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Please note this Antenna will Not Fit Scanner model TTi tsc100r (N20KQ) base diameter just too large but it is a well made bit of kit. You can use a SMA Plug to BNC Socket adaptor (RS85G) and Hand-held Antenna MRW100 (N29AC) instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very strong reception handheld antenna Well pleased with this little gem, bought one for my ubc125xlt, along with a couple of connection adapters to make it fit, sometimes outperforms my outdoor antenna

will this work with the mitex general radio?

Asked by: Petem56
This would not be advisable as a replacement as the frequency range does not match that used by the Mitex General model of radio.

If I live around 15 miles from an airport, will this be able to pick up the frequencies alot better than the stock maycom ar-108 antenna which can hardly pick up the fruencies well unless im closer to the airport?

Asked by: Krei23
Yes this would be an ideal replacement aerial, I can't say for sure if it will enable you to hear airport chatter at that distance as many other factors can affect this (terrain mostly).

will these work on a UV-5R BAOFENG Dual Band UHF/VHF 136-174/400-520MHz

Asked by: forgerschoice
No it will NOT work with a Baofeng UV-5R as the Baofeng's SMA connector is male, as-is the connector on the aerial, so it will NOT fit. Sorry.
