What makes Nest Protect different from other CO alarms?
The Nest Protect CO alarm is a combined smoke and carbon monoxide alarm that connects to your smartphone through your wireless router. The free Nest app will keep you informed of the change in CO and smoke levels in your home, wherever you are in the world. The app allows you to view accurate information which would not normally be available with any standard alarm. This alarm is a two in one device that is perfect for use in the new age of technology with the increase in use of smartphones. Nest Protect checks itself over 400 times a day and lets you know if something’s up.

Does the Nest app send push notifications?
The Nest app sends push notifications with a different alert for different situations. The flashing LEDs on the alarm and the speaking voice from the app let you know what the situation is when it arises.

Is the alarm easy to install?
The alarm is simple and easy to install. Plug the device into the mains and once you have downloaded the Nest app, it is as easy as scanning the QR code on the bottom of the unit and the app will then guide you through the rest of the process.

What advantage do I have of buying the extra Nest items?
All the Nest items are interlinkable with each other. This means you can keep you home safer and even more secure. Link the Nest Protect with the Nest Thermostat so when the alarm detects the CO levels rising it automatically shuts off the heating to keep you safe. Link up with the Nest Cam and when the alarm detects smoke it the camera starts to record so you can go back and see what happened.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Installed 2 and both have been faultless, detects both fire and Co2, air quality reports to your phone and also has a nice nightlight feature when you walk upstairs.

I understand that there are 2 sets of 3 batteries which are used up at different rates. How long does each set last ? Could I swap them over half way through to get better usage ?

Asked by: Pureedfruit
Hi there, You have posted this question on the wired version of Nest Protect, which will of course have line power but it will only have 3 back up batteries. There is no order to which the batteries will be used either in the wired or battery only version. The battery version does use 6 batteries. Team Nest UK

can I add other nest wirless to the main one in different rooms ? I have a restaurant and I want 4 of them in different area without any wires. also can I disable while we working if I put one in the kitchen ?

Asked by: ciros
Hi Ciros, So long as your Nest Protects can all connect to your WiFi, you can add them anywhere in the property within that range. Regarding placing Nest Protect in a commercial kitchen, it isn't possible to disable any smoke alarm for safety reasons but Nest Protect has intelligent sensors and software to allow it to determine the difference between smoke and steam. This should keep false alarms to a minimum for you. Hope this helps! Team Nest UK

If the alarm rings, can it be stopped via pushing a button on the unit it or must it be stopped via the App?

Asked by: Jonjon
Hi JonJon, Nest Protect Generation 2 (This model) may be silenced either by physically pushing the button on the Protect or via your Nest App, while within Bluetooth range (This is a safety feature which ensures the area was checked for fire before silencing) Team Nest UK

are these inter-linkable to confirm with latest regulations

Asked by: den28
Nest Protect is approved by BSI standards. After you connect your Nest Protect to Wi-Fi and with your Nest Account, it will automatically interconnect with any new Nest Protects you associate with your Nest Account. Communication between Nest Protects is called Wireless Interconnect and allows multiple Nest Protects to talk to each other during an alert or emergency alarm.

Hi, I need a heat sensor in the kitchen rather than a smoke alarm - so my builder tells me - will this suit kitchens or is there a hear monitor mode / version? Thanks

Asked by: Boycey
I am sorry but the item in question does not support use in your intended application.
