Rated 3 out of 5 by from This router is quite efficient when it is working, but difficult to set up. It gets really confusing to sort out if the set up doesnt go right first time. I had one for a year, randomly dropping in and out of internet connection, (which may have been server or router i will never know), but then it recently stopped getting internet at all so I have just exchanged it. This set up ok, then seemed to stop working straight after, but I seem to have cured it by 'setting it up' again. I remember it was complicated when i originally did it. Maplin were very good about exchanging. Great service as always.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up - the setup guide (in CD enclosed) takes you through everything. Recognised my connection type in no time, easy to set up a fast, secure wireless (and wired) network. Fantastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced older Netgear ASDL router with this. We have a number of computers and a laptop (which is two floors below the Router) on Windows 98, Vista and 7. It was easy to set up. We have had no periods when I have had to re-boot it and the laptop receives a much better signal now with no dropping out..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from First router wireless signal slowed to a crawl after 2 days use After 2 weeks of this's returned router to shop New router worked ok for 2 days then wireless signal dies out No coverage no speed Totaly useless Gone back o BT hub which at least is working, don't say much for net gear if this hub beats it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have just fitted my Router and cant believe just how good it is regarding speed of connection and the speed of going to different sites. It took me a while to set up and and I had to contact my ISP, but after a few minutes with him I was up and running. A really great piece of kit. Well done Netgear

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My old Netgear router (approx 10yrs old) finally stopped working last Friday 25/1/13). Wireless was working fine but the internet connection was very poor with mostly unable to connect errors. Off to Maplins on Saturday and purchased the Netgear N300. After spending a few minutes reading the instructions I connected the router as described and followed the simple instructions. Apart from entering my internet login details incorrectly first time round the whole process was simplicity itself and I was up and running in 10 minutes. The unit itself is much smaller than my previous box as you'd expect and so far is performing better with a faster connection. I have downloaded the manual and I have been looking at the all the features which this box contains. I'm particularly interested in the USB connector for use with my backup hard drive allowing us to backup all PCs over the network. In all in all I would recommend this unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works very well, good area coverage, fast connection speeds possible with wi-fi devices. Initial set up with software was a little tricky at first, as it failed to correctly recognise my connection type (PPoE instead of PPoA) but was soon put right and no problems at all since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good device - easily set up. Does what it says on the box.

Hi, I have an old house with thick stone walls. I have tried plug in extenders but have trouble with connecting when I move rooms. I would really like to find a router which can get a signal through a thick stone wall - do you sell such a thing? David

Asked by: Davidbs1
Data throughput, signal range, and wireless coverage per sq. ft. are not guaranteed and may vary due to differences in operating environments of wireless networks, including without limitation building materials and wireless interference, If you have thick stone walls this remain an issue with any router.
