Rated 5 out of 5 by from I purchased this device primarily to give a wireless internet connection on an old laptop running the Ubuntu operating system. The laptop doesn't have an internal wireless adapter, and having tried (and failed) to set up a USB adaptor I decided this was the easier option. I connected it using the USB as power, and as soon as I started up the Firefox it went straight into the configuration screen. Set up was easy and the unit connected to the router, and i was up and running in moments. Once the device is configured you can move it to other systems without any addition set up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have a HUMAX FOXSAT HDR and use the WIFI ADAPTOR to successfully provide a WEB connection for IPLAYER. The instructions are straight forward with or without the WPS function. The unit is small, neat and tidy and appears to be well made. Although the USB power supply is a nice solution, I found it more reliable, for this application to use the alternative power adaptor. It would appear that the ADAPTOR needs to boot first for the HDR to always recognise the ETHERNET connection when it boots.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I have a good wifi signal and can use laptops all over the house and garden, but this unit is very poor, dropping connection every few seconds. The instructions state that it really needs to be in the same room as the router, with a clear line of site - this is not what is indicated on the outer packaging. moderator note: this is advising on the ideal conditions and is not an indication of what is possible. If it was in the same room I would buy a cable for about 1/4 of the price. Even if I place it within 50cm of the router during setup, it only reports a signal strength of 60-65%.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little bit of kit, especially for the price. Got one of these as my powerline network wasn't running as fast as I would have liked. Hooked up to my wireless network easily (running a draytek 2820vn router) and plugged it into the 6 port switch that had been connected to the powerline network. Getting connection speeds of 250-300Mbps, so pretty much top wireless-N speed. That's one room across, and one floor down from the router location. The only thing I did find was that having the router set up to allocate fixed IP addresses to the clients connected to the bridge via the switch caused DNS problems so no internet. Removing the fixed IP for those clients seems to have resolved this, with only fixed IP for the actual netgear bridge. Now all working perfectly, so much so I got a second one for sky antyime+ upstairs, and to give better connection speeds than the wireless G inbuilt in the PS3.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I bought one of these three months ago to connect a Sony TV to my wireless network. The Netgear adapter was very much cheaper than the recommended Sony adapter. It has worked very reliably and without incident. This second purchase was to connect a Xerox laser printer. The adapter is also working reliably and without incident. The setup procedure is simple enough. As I don't have WPS on my router, I used the "Installation without WPS" method in the instruction leaflet, On both occasions I was caught out by typing lower-case letters in the WEP password (exactly as listed on the back of the BT router), whereas the Netgear Adapter and/or the router requires upper-case letters. That aside, the installation was straightforward and the adapters work well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't be any easier to set up. Had it configured in 10 minutes and plugged into my music server and working in 15 minutes. Fantastic for streaming music around the house to older non-wireless AV kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A network item that is so easy to set-up. If you don't use the WPS button, many routers don't have them, just connect it to your PC. Open Internet Explorer and it takes you to the set-up page so you can connect it to your wireless router. Once done plug into whatever you intend to use if for (in my case Sky+ HD box) and it works. Infact you can then plug it into any device you have that has an Ethernet connection after the first set-up and it will work. Buy it now.

How do I connect thos connector I have an Ethernet connection on my free box but this adapts has come with a Ethernet cable and a USB power cable

Asked by: Big c
You would connect the ethernet cable to the back of your freesat box and to this adapter, Power it using a spare USB port on the back of your TV or freesat box Then using the WPS button on the adapter, connect it to your wireless router.

I have recently installed a home cctv system which requires a wired connection to the internet/router for remote access. Would this replace the need for the cable?
