Is this powerline kit right for me?
This kit contains everything that you will need in the box. This powerline kit is simple to use – its plug and play feature means that you can quickly plug in the powerline adapters, connecting one to your router and the other to your networked device, and setup is complete. These powerline plugs will give you a transfer speed of up to 1200Mbps between them. The single network port on each plug will allow you to connect your device, such as your laptop, desktop PC, games console, smart TV, networked hard drive or even your smart fridge, directly to your internet connection in only a few simple steps.

How could I use this powerline kit?
The powerline kit is designed for one plug to connect directly to your network router while the other is connected to a networked device. Compatible network devices include laptops, PCs, gaming consoles, smart TVs, network hard drives, media players and CCTV kits. This kit allows that device to connect directly to the internet without use of long network cables. Additional receivers, including receivers that give a wireless signal, are sold separately and can connect additional devices to your router. For the best results, use any powerline receiver capable of sending up to 1200Mbps.

How does powerline work?
Powerline technology transfers data using the electrical wiring of the household. A single powerline plug is connected directly to a router and plugged into a mains socket. This plug then communicates to all of the other plugs on to the same electricity supply. This kit comes with a single powerline plug that connects to a router, and another plug that will connect to your networked device and allow it to communicate to your router over the mains. The powerline adapters will communicate with each other when connected directly to mains sockets on the same fuse board.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing performance Bought this to link my laptop downstairs to a Netgear NAS drive upstairs. Originally, I was using Netgear wireless adapters but the data rate was too slow, so bought these in the hope that they would speed up the connection. Alas, I am only getting 10Mb/s max and the powerline adapter downstairs keeps going to standby (orange LED) and does not automatically wake up when I boot the laptop. I have to unplug it and replug it to get it to work again. I am usually really pleased with Netgear products but this one has not come up to my expectations.

these adapters run at 1200 MBS but if I also use 600 mbs adapters (tp-link brand) ayt the same time, does that slow all down to 600 mbs (least common denominator they used to call)?

Asked by: richard
That is correct they would all be slowed down to the slowest speed.

Am I right in saying that you plug one adaptor into the into the router, then the other adaptor into a socket downstairs. It then gives you WiFi, but can you put a cable from the adaptor straight into your TV as well???

Asked by: Pilgrimpete
This kit is not WiFi but supports a single connection via a LAN cable.

Is this dual band and would it work on a dual band router with 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals. Would the adaptors extend both bands?

Asked by: Sajid
This device is for making a wired Ethernet connection only, it isn't dual or single band as it does not offer any kind of wireless connectivity.

Does one adaptor connect to the router via a network cable and then the other one just plugs into another socket? Does this latter one then give an extended wireless signal?

Yes that is correct.
