Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five star service This does not seem to be the commodity that many write reviews about. So I'll use this as an opportunity to commend great service. I needed only four metres of this, to run a network extension through a wall to the next room. I did not find it on display at your Basingstoke branch so I asked a member of staff. He was very helpful, checking on my requirements and stock availability, and found some in the stock room and cut the required length. I sincerely hope that a solution is found to Maplin's current trading problems. The helpfulness of your staff, on my every visit, is worth so much to me.

I need a Cat 6 cable to run from one window to another outside a house - allbeit sheltered from rain. What do I use if this is not for outside use? Also do you do it in white? MC

Asked by: MWHC
On this occasion Maplin do not stock a product that exactly meets your requirements, or indeed anything close enough to offer you as an alternative.

I have seen your previous answer on the difference between "solid" and "stranded"; apart from flexibility is the main difference price? I.e. it is more expensive to make the flexible one! Regards Tim
Asked by: Tim
I’d assume so , we don’t actually make the cable , we only distribute from our suppliers , but that is the difference one if more flexible , I've located a fun article should yo u wish to read it .

Your Cat5 & Cat6 ethernet cable descriptions seem a bit mixed up - for instance the tec spec on the Cat6 stranded cable says it has solid conductors, and all say they are avaliable in 100m reels but these don''t show up in the shopping menus below.
Asked by: Doug
There is an error in the spec table, this cable is stranded. To order a full reel of cable enter 100 into the quantity box, this is the reel quantity. By doing this you will also get a 50% discount for buying a full reel.
