What makes this camera different?
The NextBase 212 Lite comes with an improved window mount that allows you to install and remove your camera quicker. This mount comes with a suction cup, which attaches to the windscreen in the car while the camera connects to the mount via a magnetic connection.

Why should I buy this dash camera?
The NextBase 212 Lite gives a 1080p HD recording of any event on the road. This can help reduce your insurance quotes and provide proof for making a claim after an accident. With sufficient lighting you can even capture events at night, and the built-in G-sensor will allow the dash cam to record any impacts or sudden course changes so that the footage of any accidents is protected on the memory card, even if the vehicle is parked. A date and time stamp is also included in the recording to prevent any dispute. The built-in screen blacks out during recording to prevent the driver from becoming distracted and thereby encourage road safety. The built-in, six element sharp lenses will give you an improved image with vivid colours while being protected by the anti-glare polarising filter – which minimises windscreen reflections on your recordings.

How do I use this dash camera?
The dash cam records directly onto a class 10 microSD card, up to 32GB in size (not supplied). This is installed into the slot on the unit to record up to four hours of footage. When the memory card becomes full, an auto loop function will allow the dash cam to begin recording over the existing video files in chronological order. Once the memory card is installed, the dash cam can be suction mounted directly onto the windscreen, and it is powered with a built-in battery or in-car power supply. Once the engine is running, the camera will automatically start recording so that any event is captured and recorded.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good value dashcam The Maplin "Click and Collect" didn't work very well, is seems their website doesn't update store stock regularly. I went to the shop as it had stock only to find they had none left! One was sent to the store, but as I wasn't visiting the area again for a few weeks another was ordered by the store for delivery direct to me and it arrived a couple of days later. The Dashcam works very well. It is fairly basic, but does what I want, it comes on when I start the car and goes off when I take the key out. Picture quality is pretty good. Being able to unclip the camera without having to disconnect cables is nice. The power cable is thin enough to tuck under the headlining, under the rubber door strip and under centre consul covers. So far very happy with my choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dash Cam at a great price This unit has all the basic features you really need (no GPS or Wi-Fi, but these are just an added complication in my opinion anyway). It’s handy that the Dash Cam can be removed from the bracket so effortlessly, should you wish to do so when parked up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little Dash Cam I recently bought this Dash Cam and it does exactly what I hoped it would do. It's easy to install and works a treat. Unfortunately the first one I recieved would not hold its charge. So I returned it freepost and got a replacement with a few days. Really good service. I would recommend the Dash Cam and Maplins.

If the car is parked and someone bumps my car does the dash cam capture the accident.

Asked by: Malcolm
As long as the internal battery is charged then the internal G-sensor will monitor for impacts, however it will still only capture in the direction it is positioned, so if facing forward it would not capture a rear impact although it would still record giving you a time of impact.
