NFC tags, when programmed allow you to perform actions or run applications when you run your NFC-enabled phone or tablet over it. NFC tags are extremely versatile allowing you to change settings, launch apps and perform actions.

Here is the day in the life of some NFC tags.

In the Morning
You wake up Monday morning and you know the alarm on your phone won't stop until you get up, walk into the bathroom and scan a tag.

In the Car
As you climb into your car, you scan another tag which turns on Bluetooth and automatically pairs your phone with your hands-free kit and turns on your phone's GPS.

At Work
You arrive at work and scan another tag at your desk which puts your phone on silent and turns on Wi-Fi. You could even stick an NFC tag in your wallet to act as a business card to share contact details.

In the Gym
After work you drive to the gym and scan the tag in your sports bag which turns your phone into flight mode, so you won't be disturbed and launches your workout playlist. When you finished, just scan again to reverse the process.

Back Home
Once you arrive home, you scan the tag near your front door and your lights and Wi-Fi turn on. You could even program the tag to automatically turn on your computer when you walk through the door.

Bed Time
When it's time for bed, place your phone next to your bed, scanning another tag as you do - your phone is put into flight mode and your alarm is set, ready for another day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from These are great tags which I've used to easily change the settings on my phone/launch apps. I've put one on the dock in my car and my phone now automatically turns off Wi-Fi, turns on Bluetooth and launches Google maps. A tag on my desk at work turns the phone on to silent. Free apps in the Google app store (for Android) allow many different tasks to be automated just by waving your phone near a tag. The tags can be re-programmed many times or if the 'lock' option is set they will be permanently fixed to what you write that time. This is handy if you're putting the tag somewhere public and writing your companies website, Foursquare or Facebook details.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent and so useful At less than 84p a tag, you can't go far wrong! Work brilliantly, multiple colours is nice. I use them to automatically set my phone for use in the car, my truck (at work), when I get home to my favourite chair and for when I get into/out of bed. Saves me having to dig into the phone menus or widgets to turn on/off wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, silent mode, etc. Marking them down because they don't work if the phone's locked is a bit unfair. That's not the fault of the product but the way the technology works! A really useful and affordable bit of tech

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can be used when phone is locked if rooted NFC can be used too unlock and do other things when your phone is locked and screen is off if your android phone is rooted and has a special Xposed Framework Module called NFCLockscreenOff

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not As Good As It Seems The NFC tags perform the action instantly, but only if your phone is unlocked. So it is not as good and easy as just putting your phone on a tag and its done. Therefore there is not much point of buying them if you just want to turn on Bluetooth etc. as you have to unlock your phone first, and when you do, you only need one tap on a widget to do so.
