Product overview

• Split and distribute the signal from an aerial, Sky box or Freeview box• Built-in digital bypass for use with Sky remote extenders (such as our PT73Q Sky Link)• Up to 12dB gain to each output• Short circuit protection on each output• Less than 5W power consumption

A fixed gain plug-in signal amplifier for use with analogue and digital TV signals when fed from a suitable aerial. The amplifier can also be used to link a satellite receiver to a TV and/or a video recorder. This unit is housed in an attractively styled box fitted with a mains lead for plugging directly into a 13A socket. Unlike most on the market this amplifier has a digital bypass built-in. If you are using a Sky remote control extender such as our PT73Q, regular amplifiers prevent them from working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did what it needed to do for a long run of coax Needed to move the telly to a different room, and it involved about 15 metres of coax cable, in 1m, 4m and 10m lengths. The freeview box not unreasonably reported 1 bar and 1 bar for strength and quality. HD channels pretty much dead, some SD ones okay. Got this unit after some research. Plugged it in. Bars jumped to 3-4 and 10. Perfectly solid HD picture. Really pleased with that result. Would have got the 2 port model (which gets 5* as it has no 1* reviews to spoil the average) but it wasn't in store.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Had several bad experiences Bought one - the Aerial In connection was not working. Replaced at shop, and had exactly the same problem. Checked and double checked cables, as I couldn't believe I would be that unlucky. Replaced with the slightly more expensive Nikkai 4-port - got a picture this time but certainly not a watchable one! Had my money refunded, and bought "an alternative make" from a different shop, as sadly no other options were available from Maplin. The alternative works perfectly! Hence I will forevermore give Nikkai products a wide berth. Customer service at Maplin was very good though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the best signal booster bar none I have bought many signal boosters in the past. it is a complete minefield. This is the best I have purchased. I have bought both the 4 amplifier and the 2 amplifier, fantastic. Both of them are brilliant, plug and watch. Just re tune your tv once device is fitted.

Recently purchased and connected to sky rf2 outlet, sends good digital signal to 3 x tvs, but sky is snowy. If I bypass amplifier and connect any of the tvs directly to rf2 outlet they will receive digital and sky perfectly. What's the problem??

Current TV will only receive itv channels and these sometimes break  , will the Nikkai product improve this or do you recommend something else. PS this upstairs TV is linked in to the main TV supply Cheers Ian

Asked by: Cycling
We cannot say this will completely cure the issue you are having, but it will amplify the signal so it would make it more reliable.

best way to open lugs to wall mount this unit. cant believe that metal has to be punched out.

Asked by: paul
The item is made of plastic but unfortunately not wall mountable, if you was to punch holes into the unit (not recommended) it will void the warranty if it needs to be replaced at all in the future.
