Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bought this for my mother, none of the codes i tried didn't work for her tv, freeview box, dvd player or vcr.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very very old and very very bad. This really is a piece of old rubbish. For a Samsung TV (not exactly a rarity) you are given 20 different codes and you need to enter each one in turn and try the controller to see if it works. It's like some stupid puzzle. I managed to find one code that partially worked but several of the functions were swapped. I then managed to wipe the settings on the TV by pressing the mute button! Took ages to set it back up properly with the original remote. The remote itself is really quite old and obviously never updated. I doubt it will work on any TV with a "guide" button as it doesn't have one. So that's probably any TV made in the last 10 years. It's a nice idea, just sadly well past its sell by date.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well! We bought this for our 91yr old loved one who just could not manage the remote on her new large screen Panasonic as the key pad was hard to see and the buttons too small. It worked really well with the 3rd code used and was relatively easy to set up. We had been worried about buying this model as some of the reviews are poor but it works well for us. The only immediate drawback is that she found the remote rather heavy - hence the 4 stars (she is very frail!).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works for tosh tv, not Philips dvd Brought this specfically for a Philips did player that I've lost the remote for. It automatically found the toshiba tv I have but not the DVDs player. I can't find the online manual that is referred to on the product page. If I hadn't lost the receipt it would have gone back to the store, as it is it's a paperweight!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I think this is brilliant. Works for my Sharp Aquos TV, but when the batteries died I had to come here to find the online manual, which I can't seem to find.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The best present I've had Elderly FIL has found this invaluable as remote that came with TV has very small buttons which are impossible if you are nearly blind. We actually found it better than those sold in shops specifically for people with poor sight. The buttons are not only easier to see with very poor sight but easier to find with your fingers as there is enough space for your finger to 'read' where one button ends and the next begins. We did customize it slightly by adding rubber bands to make a tactile separation between the top two rows of buttons and the numbers and the bottom two rows of buttons. Unusually there was no bump on the number 5 which is usual on mobiles and landline telephones and which also helps you to find your way around the numbers by touch. We added one. We've also added a bump to the on/off switch. Ideally we'd love to be able to blank off all the extra and unnecessary buttons as we only use it for TV and are still thinking about how to achieve this. Fast changing technology has made life very difficult for the elderly. We wish we could stop the TV from moving the channels around - but we can't. Even 'Favourites' get moved around by the broadcaster. Digital radio reception doesn't exist where this TV is being used if you're wondering why a blind person is 'watching' TV. I think you'll find that many blind people listen to TVs! Please all you seeing people out there take note to learn where the numbers sit on your mobiles and landline phones and TV remotes. They are in the same order. Learn them while you can see them. They won't be if remotes go to touch screens and that will be a new challenge. Once you can't see at all it is so much more difficult to remember where things are. Memory is multi-sensory! (Persist with the setup if you find it difficult - it's worth it.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the job Father-in-law's fingers couldn't cope with the small buttons on his Philips remote so bought this to replace it. Couldn't programme it at first but then realised that you have to press the OK button at the correct time in the process. Auto programming worked a treat - brilliant.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent TV remote control Bought this for my visually impaired mum. I found the synchronisation with the TV straightforward. I got it working within half an hour even though I'd allocated a whole morning to get it working (due to the other pessimistic reviews!). I agree the manual is not brilliant and am not sure which of the code numbers actually worked as it worked by the time I'd keyed in all of them. The remote has the Red Button but I couldn't get that to work. Incidentally, the old LG handset still works in tandem with the new one so we can watch iplayer when I'm around whilst mum can just us the huge one. My mum loves the device and can move from BBC1 to BBC news (channel 130) with three pushes and she loves that that the buttons are so widely spaced. The representative RNIB saw the handset and wants to recommend it but I did say synchronisation/set up is not for the faint hearted and would be very difficult for a visually impaired person.

We cannot guarantee compatibility with any particular model, however the DVD code listing does have an entry for the Denver brand, so this may be compatible.
