Rated 5 out of 5 by from The quality of this unit was immediately obvious, in comparison with the three (yes three) superficially similar types I'd tried from other websites and given up on. It provides a strong, stable signal and has a pleasant matt rubber surface. My only criticism is of the unhelpful instruction leaflet. This is what it fails to say: use the +/- buttons to select a memory; then press Menu to make the frequency display flash and adjustable by the +/- buttons; then press Menu again to store the new frequency.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unlike the cheap units I have had in the past this one works much better. The signal is stronger and it works with a higher output from my MP3 player which is important for sound quality. But the USB link does not charge my Blackberry - it tries but there is just not enough juice available. The display cannot easily be read in daylight. The sound quality is better than cheaper units but lacks high frequencies and dynamics of a CD played in the car. Overall though it works well enough to be recommended.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This transmitter is useless. Chose a frequency that was relatively 'silent' in the London area and the mp3 could be heard on the car radio BUT it kept fizzing and popping. Thought it might be because of the crowded frequencies in my home area so tried it on holiday in the Scottish Highlands (hardly any fm stations up there to interfere!), still the same problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Successfully set it up but just would not maintain a signal with the car radio for any length of time.Did not fit the cigarette lighter in my car very well (Astra) but that seemed to be a separate issue. Could not recommend this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from FM Transmitter worked really well. Worked in my car, when a previous device didn't. Doesn't appear to charge an iPod Touch 4G though. Didn't try any other devices. Tried two different units.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete waste of money, couldn't get a decent signal, sockets too close together to allow a longer lead to be used. Really wish I had spent the extra money on something better

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slightly clunky but good quality A little larger than anticipated and the cable to connect to the headphone socket of your chosen device is quite short so if you are using a mobile phone from a hands free kit, you may need to purchase a longer stereo jack. Not the easiest to change the frequency to find stations on but managed to get there eventually. Once in, plays well. Obviously you have to remember that it's playing through radio so any steering wheel controls (such as change track/station) will change the station and not the track.

Hi, I recently bought one of these and it does work, but I get a continuous tone, a bit like a telephone engaged tone, which makes the audio unlistenable to. I've tried many different frequencies but it's always the same. Can you help?

I purchased one of these but every 40 seconds or so it turns itself off. I had this plugged this into my mobile phone on the headphone jack. Any idea why?
Asked by: paul conroy
It is likely that you need to turn the volume up on your device. These units have a power save feature which means they will shut off if not receiving a full line level source.
