Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got mine a few years ago - thought I'd add a review. Very good product, especially when it is priced below a tenner (as it is currently). It always responds well near power cables (and some network cables - good for tracing), the batteries have lasted for several years (light use) and the torch is a click-stay-on, click-to-turn-off type so you don't have to hold the button down. It is very robust and handles well.

Absolutely top tool, enabled me to kill a redundant wire which could not be isolated. Only gripe is that I cannot understand why mine intermittently lights when its stood on my desk away from any circuitry?
Asked by: Yusef Mamoojee
Another customer who has this unit has responded to this question- "For information of Yusef and others using this product. It is my experience with this type of voltage detector, that as the battery drains, they become over sensitive, hence a possible reason for it lighting when on the desk. Furthermore, they are sensitive to static, and as a sparkie myself, rubbing them on ones clothing is often used to see that it works. Hope this helps, Steve"
