What is a surge protector?
Surge protectors help shield your devices and appliances from electrical spikes by attempting to limit the voltage passing through them. This is great for anything from lamps and TVs to computers and music equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purchased this end of May beginning of June (2013) when i purchased over ??2000 worth of computer parts from maplins (high end gaming rig) my area is highly probable of power spikes and have had a few myself (blown the 3d tv) but yet this still powers on and still protects my rig nearly a year on from purchase, very pleased with it and would definitely recommend to everyone! inexpensive yet great quality and great protection :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from confusing LED lights Bought 2 of these and plugged in and saw that the power on led was lit green and the protected led was red. This made me think it was faulty, surely green is ok and red is not working. Had an on line chat and initially was told it was overloaded. As I had tried it with a 60w table lamp this seemed unlikely so asked if he was sure. He checked and said that red was ok so I have to believe it but am not particularly happy. More explanation on the packaging would help and also to explain that if a surge occurred the red light would go out and the unit replaced

I have a large American style fridge-freezer and wonder if, after a power cut, this unit would allow the freezer to automatically restart or whether it would remain off as in the case of a circuit breaker?

Asked by: Patsy
The item will help to stop a power surge damaging an item. It has no control over weather the power will come back on or if the main breaker trips.
