Download the app to remotely control your Philips Hue lights! What will this kit allow me to do?
This Philips Hue kit gives you the ability to control various aspects of your lighting with your voice or the dedicated app. A spectrum of 16 million colours for you to choose from for each bulb, lets you create lighting that suits your taste and the ambience you want. The light bulbs communicate via Wi-Fi with the central Hue Bridge 2.0, giving you the ability to turn off/on your lights and dim them remotely through the touch of a button on the app. What are the ways I can control this kit?
To control the Philips Hue eco system a free app, called Philips Hue, is available for Android 2.3 or later and Apple iOS 7 or later devices. The app can do more than just change the colour of the light bulbs, turn them off/on and dim them. You can schedules lights to turn on at specific times or even set them to turn on when you arrive home, thanks to the geofencing technology. The wide range of colours lets you set the optimal light for certain situations, helping you feel energised or relaxed. Each of these light settings can be saved as scenes for you to use when you want to change your mood, behaviour or alertness.
The Philips Hue can also work with IFTTT (If This Then That). This lets you link the Hue to react to certain tasks from apps, websites and devices. For example you could set the light bulbs to change colours when the weather changes outside. What is the difference between this kit and previous versions?
The Hue Bridge 2.0 supports Apple HomeKit and allows you to control your lights by talking to Siri (only for iOS 9 or later devices). You can ask Siri to turn off/on lights, change the colour of the lights to one of your saved scenes and more. This feature can be used outside your home as well, if you own an Apple TV. HomeKit also lets any other HomeKit compatible smart products communicate with each other and adds another dimension to your smart products at home.Integration with other smart devices - Nest
Philips Hue products can talk to any of your Nest products you may have. If your Nest cam detects movement outside, it can turn on some of your lights after a few seconds and turns them off when motion stops. This gives an illusion that you are at home and adds even more security to your home. What can I expect from the included light bulbs?
The LEDs used provide you with a light bulb that can run for up to 25,000 hours at an A grade energy efficiency rating and emits 806 lumens of light. This is as bright as a 60W incandescent bulb, but has a lower energy footprint and lasts a lot longer. Are they difficult to install?
The installation has been optimised to be simple and easy. First, replace your existing light bulbs sitting in your B22 bayonet cap light fitting with the Philips Hue bulbs supplied. Setup the Hue Bridge and then download the app. If you already have the previous Hue Bridge, you can transfer your settings and preferences to the new Hue Bridge 2.0.
You can add up to 50 Philips hue lights and accessories to one Bridge and it works with any existing hue light bulbs and accessories. This allows you to add together a range to create the perfect home lighting environment for you.
