How long will the battery last on this MP3 player?
This Philips MP3 player has a long lasting battery that will last up to 20 hours on continuous audio playback and up to four hours of video playback. This gives you plenty of time to enjoy your music on long journeys. With the MP3 player also having a standard USB plug for charging, you are able to charge this device with any normal USB plug to keep topped up while you are away.

What does the Fullsound technology do?
Philips' innovative FullSound technology faithfully restores sonic details to compressed MP3 music, dramatically enriching and enhancing it, so you can experience CD music without any distortion. Based on an audio post-processing algorithm, FullSound combines Philips' renowned expertise in music reproduction with the power of the latest generation Digital Signal Processor (DSP). The result is fuller bass with more depth and impact, boosted voice and instrument clarity, and rich detail.

What does SafeSound do?
SafeSound consistently analyses the sound level on your Philips MP3 player and alerts you if the volume and exposure could have a possible impact on your long-term hearing. You can take action by adjusting the volume to a lower level or allow SafeSound to automatically regulate the volume for you — no need to fiddle with any settings. In addition, SafeSound provides daily and weekly overviews of your sound exposure so you can take better charge of your hearing health.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too quiet to use outside I previously had a GoGear Vibe and was very happy, but it was starting to show it's age (probably from being dropped too often). I expected this new on e to perform as well, but the volume, even on maximum, is too quiet to listen to with any kind of external noise, such as traffic. I'm not talking about standing by a motorway, this is in a village with a 30 mph limit. You can't hear anything when a car goes by. Very annoying with music, but unusable for listening to podcasts. I will be returning the product to the supplier. The menu system is also a step backwards. Fewer buttons, but harder to navigate, not intuitive and at times confusing. Lastly, having the menu item selcted in purple on a black background makes it unreadable. Did nobody test this out on a dull day?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor instructions I find the Quick Start Guide worse than useless. It made no sense at all. When I looked on the Philips website my model only appeared as an MP4 player when the box said it’s an MP3 player. I found it hard to navigate with o real navigation instructions on the user manual. I found it annoying that you couldn’t delete a whole album you have to delete each track individually. The sound quality is goof though and if you want a cheap basic MP3 player you could do worse

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I am not fully impressd with the MP3 player. The MP3 player has to be charged via a computer and I find that annoying as I have a mobile that can be can be charged from a computer or a separate charger. For my e-reader, purchased before the mobile phone, I purchase a separate charger; both items can be charged from the same 2 chargers. I have now purchased a different charger so that I can keep the MP3 player charged. I would have preferred a different connection on the MP3 player. I use the MP3 player for audio books and the MP3 player needs charging more often than adding/deleting MP3 files. I find that the controls need patience to get used to operating them; a problem of a small device and human fingers. I did have a problem charging the MP3 which I solved by trial and error; I still have to make 3 or 4 attempts before I am successful, the MP3 player will only charge on 1 out of 2 choices. Perhaps a longer connection lead will make it easier. Would I buy another Philips MP3/4 player? At the moment is better the devil you know and it does what I want. The MP3 player fits in my trouser pocket whilst I am DIYing (a horrible word). I might look for a cover with a clip. It is a basic device that does what I want; dearer MP3 players might have more features but do I need the features. Now I can use a plug (230 volt socket) in I would recommend the MP3 player, without a plug in charger than I would not recommend it

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Chrome os compatible Small compact player, but I had all sorts of trouble trying to connect it to my Chrome os driven Chromebook laptop! Eventually, I discovered all the app files on the player were Windows driven and not compatible with Chrome os! When trying to connect, I get the message 'Failed to connect to "Philips SHB3165"'. (which I think is a bluetooth super hub) It will charge from laptop and will play example music / video and audiobook loaded! But cannot download from laptop! Not fit for purpose and I will be returning it

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unable to format playlists Never have I had such difficulty with what is a standard device. Could not create playlists, which every media player I use has and which can be operated very easily. Volume is poor even when you bypass the restrictions... All in all very poor and definitely a bad buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Purchased as a replacement for one although brand new did not work, not a phillips. Found the controls easy to navigate and overall extremely satisfactory. The only one gripe I have though is that albums tracks downloaded appear in alphabetical order and not track order. Maybe it is because I'm doing something wrong but at the moment I am getting as many tracks downloaded for forthcoming holiday. I will try to resolve this when I return.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Little MP4 I was given one of these in 2014 as a present and loved it immediately but at 12 months old it stopped working and I lost all of the content on it. Not sure why. I was given another one at Christmas 2015 as I did miss it. The sound is great and it is easy to use. Songbird is easy to use software that comes with it. The only downside is I don't know if I can rely on it to last more than 12 months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great size and controls The size is perfect to fit in your pocket and listen to while "on the go". Other reviews complain about ease of use, but I can't see the problem. It has a clear play button and back button and you can turn it on easily by simply holding down the play button. I think you simply need to download a manual and read through it, the device is easy to use once you know how.
