The PiFace Digital 2 allows your Raspberry Pi to interact with and control real-world objects like relays and switches. The PiFace Digital 2 enables your board to interface with analogue devices, which the Raspberry Pi board would not normally be able to. Operating motors, sensors and lights can now be controlled by Raspberry Pi, which opens up the scope of the projects that you can create.
What could I achieve with the PiFace Digital 2?
The PiFace Digital 2 is a great tool for education purposes, as it allows beginners to use the Pi board in a hands-on interactive way in addition to the software capabilities Raspberry Pi offers.
The PiFace Digital 2’s board includes two change-over relays for controlling larger voltages, four tactile switches for direct and easy input, eight digital inputs to collect information from connected devices, eight open-collector outputs to interface between different types of logic and eight LED indicators to quickly visually communicate information.
A graphical emulator of the board is also included, so that you can model and simulate what you expect the board to do before building it.

What is compatible with the PiFace Digital 2?
The PiFace Digital 2 will work with all Raspberry Pi models that have 40 GPIO pins. This includes the Raspberry Pi A+, B+ and Version 2.
This Raspberry Pi HAT is easy for beginners to program using the graphical programming Scratch with examples and help here. The PiFace Digital 2 can also be programmed in Python. You can find more help and inspiration for projects here.
