What is the Polaroid Zip?
Polaroid are the experts in instant prints, and they are bringing that classic idea into the modern digital world with the Polaroid Zip. This is an incredibly lightweight, exceptionally compact printer that comes in a sleek, stylish black colour. It uses Polaroids Zink (Zero-Ink) technology to instantly print your photos from your computer, tablet or smartphone in under a minute. The Zip will print two by three-inch pictures on smudge proof paper, with an adhesive back that means you can stick your print wherever you want.

What does the Polaroid Zip app do?
Available for both Android and iOS, the Polaroid Zip app allows you to edit your photos and print directly from your phone or tablet. It features 12 colour filters including sepia, retro and instafix, as well as offering enhancements to brightness, contrast and other colour settings. In collage mode you can include up to nine different images on one print. Paint mode allows you to draw on your photos before printing and use stickers, frames and stamps to add a little flare. The app incorporates a business card creator, complete with numerous templates.

The ‘Secret View’ functionality allows you to send secret messages in your photos, which may consist of text, emoticons or voice. This secret message will not display when the image is printed, however the app will print a QR code on the corner of the photo, which the recipient will scan to reveal the secret message.

How is the camera powered?
The Polaroid Zip features a built-in, rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Its 500mAh battery recharges in only an hour-and-a-half, and will print 35 to 40 pictures before it needs charging again via the provided microUSB cable.

What is Zink technology?
Zink, or zero-ink, technology uses Zink paper, has an advanced composite material embedded with dye crystal and features a protective polymer overcoat. The dye crystals are initially colourless, but when they are heated they activate cyan, magenta and yellow to colour the image. This provides you with a full colour image on a two by three-inch, long lasting, smudge-proof sheet. The Zink paper has adhesive backing which allows you to get creative with your prints, and the camera will hold up to ten sheets of paper at one time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does exactly what I wanted it to! Great for travel The product is a good travel size to carry around in a small bag. It prints really quickly in about 30 seconds. The app you have to download for it, make sure you connect the device and ensure both the app and the device are updated before you start printing, otherwise I found it would not print initially. The device turns off really quickly so I had to keep Turing it back on whilst I was editing my picture. The printer paper is expensive but itms really clever without requiring ink and has a sticky back too.
