About this product

Product overview

• 50W portable gas soldering iron so you can work almost anywhere
• Heats up in as little as 20 seconds allowing you to get on with the job in hand
• Temperature ranges from 210°C to 400°C allowing you to store heat in the tip to aid the melting process
• Runs for up to 30 minutes when fully refilled with butane (not included)

What makes this iron unique?
This soldering iron is gas powered and temperature controlled, helping you get the job done right first time. The iron’s gas chamber can be visually checked so that you can see how much butane is left inside. Its tips can be replaced with others from Pro-Iroda, making this soldering iron versatile in the range of tasks that it can complete.

What difference does the wattage make?
The wattage of a soldering iron is one of the most important factors when deciding which one to buy. Higher wattage will deliver more power to the iron’s tip, allowing it to heat up quicker. As this is a 50W soldering iron, it heats up the tip in as little as 20 seconds allowing you to start soldering without having to wait.

Do I need anything else for this soldering iron?
This soldering iron is supplied with a preinstalled tip but with no other accessories. You will require butane gas so you can use the soldering iron. Lead-free or silver solder is another item that you will require to begin soldering. If you require additional tips, or different tips, take a look at the following Order Codes: N86FA and N87FA

Rated 4 out of 5 by from so far, so good. It can sometimes be a little tricky to light with the included flint wheel thingy but it gets up to temperature within about 30 seconds on the lowest heat setting. would have preferred it to come with the 2mm chisel tip rather than one of the less useful ones included and I kind of begrudge paying half the price of the unit to get my hands on a single tip. I suppose that's how they make their money though. The portability and the quick heat- up really do it for me and with regards to comments about them melting, I have seen the tip glow red on one occasion when I had it at full intensity but there really isn't any need to let it get that hot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from When it worked it was great ----- Used it four times and now it will no longer ignite by any means. Dissappointed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best gas iron i have ever used! And no problems yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very adaptable iron, useful to me because of the small overall size combined with an excellent fuel capacity. A wire stand allows the iron to be rested between uses. A flint wheel is incorporated in the pen-top type cover and is reasonably easy to use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A pretty good little iron, its quite hard to light from the flint wheel but you can just use a lighter. Its not the most long-lasting soldering iron ever, but then its pretty cheap- I've had two now and they start to leak gas after 12 months or so (at which point the bodies start setting on fire, which is slightly worrying). Probably won't replace it a third time, though its had lots of use the past 2 years.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I have no idea why they changed the design. I used this 3 or 4 times in less than a month and it melted.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Using the iron for the first time it got to its working temperature and flopped over and melted. Moderator note: The unit has an included wire safety stand as indicated in the manual which prevents the unit from rolling whilst heating up. It also states within the product manual that the manufacturer recommend the use of a seperate metal stand for continuous use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Really dissapointed, I have only used this 3 times and the tip has completely disintergrated! I would take it back but I have lost the receipt! All in all for the money, its not a great product.
