About this product

Product overview

• Four channel stereo mixer allows you to plug up to eight devices, such as a mono connection, into one amplifier
• Each channel’s level is adjustable individually as well as being able to adjust the overall output level
• Eight total input sockets for mono capability or use as four stereo channels with two inputs per channel
• Mixer can be powered by either a 9V battery or a DC 12V power supply (power supply not included Order Code MG81C)

What makes this mixer different from mono mixers?
This mixer allows you to plug stereo inputs, such as CD players or MP3 players, into a single channel. With a mono mixer, such as the ProSound 4 Channel Mono Mixer you would have to use two separate channels for each stereo input.

How many items can I plug into this device?
As this is a stereo mixer, you would usually only plug up to four stereo based devices in. However, the added feature of this mixer is that you can use it as an eight channel mono mixer, plugging up to eight devices in. Alternatively, you can connect a mixture of mono and stereo devices and can have a range of items, from microphones to CD players, plugged in with no issue.

How easy is it to connect to the mixer?
This mixer has a simple plug and play system of working. Simply plug your devices into the back of the unit and, using 6.35mm leads (sold separately), plug the mixer into your amplifier or even your mixer if you are freeing up sockets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I use this at rehearsals and gigs as a mini mixer for our 3 vocalists, thus freeing up channels on the mixing desk. It is a useful and excellent bit of kit. Forget about using this with a battery. It is pretty hungry!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value and performance for the price At this price it would be churlish to be over critical. I am a semi pro guitar player working in theatres etc, so usually working confined spaces, and use this when I need to plug several guitars into one amp. The unit is small enough to go almost anywhere so I can have it close to me and switch in the volume of the guitar I need. The only two downsides I have found are as follows - it does not come with a power supply, which you would need for live use. You may have something compatible at home, but if not you would need to buy one - Maplin sells one for about £12. The other downside is that it does introduce a bit of noise - not a huge amount but then I don't have the amp cranked up high.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good build. It is a sturdy and durable device. I recommend it. I do not recommend the use of batteries with it. it will spend them quickly

What size power supply do you need to power this? I see references to power supplies but they are all ones with interchangable heads, what size do I actually require?

Asked by: Chris
We can only recommend the item below as a suitable power supply for this device: The tips are interchangeable but only one will fit in the device

Does the ProSound 4 come with preamps

Asked by: Geoff2
No, this would just be a straight through mixer, mic level audio would come out as mic level. If mixing with line level inputs a pre-amp would be required for each mic input, if just mixing mic levels a single pre-amp on the output may suffice.

If I use this pre amp with an acoustic pickup would it increase the overall volume as an output. At present I do not get enough bass volume through my amp and would like to boost the bass whilst at the same allowing a mic through as well
