What does this wireless system allow me to do?
This wireless guitar system lets you enjoy the freedom of practicing and performing without wires. It consists of a transmitter which connects to your guitar via its 1/4-inch jack connection, and a receiver which connects to an effects pedal, amplifier, mixer, recorder and more through a 1/4-inch jack cable. The wireless system communicates through UHF frequencies (600MHz to 870MHz), and thanks to the two aerials you can move up to 100m away. This system will also work for a range of other instruments that have a 1/4-inch jack port, and a 15dB switch is supplied for higher impedance instruments.

How is this wireless system powered?
The transmitter is powered by one AAA battery which will give you up to eight hours of use. Similarly the receiver can be powered through two AA batteries, or if you prefer a more permanent setup you can power it through the mains with the included mains adapter.

How does this system deal with interference?
There are a number of features to ensure you get the best possible signal. There are 16 pre-set channels for you to choose from, so you can avoid channels that are already populated and reduce interference. Additionally, a squelch controller lets you set a noise limit on received signals. This filters out any unwanted noise and makes sure only the signal from the transmitter is received.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I saw this as a 'B' grade item and bought it for home use (fed up of getting tangled in cable). After the quick set up it worked, but like another reviewer I found that there was interference with the cordless headphones that I use (Philips SBC HC8445) - not a 'fault' just the result of having two transmitters on similar frequencies. After changing the channel on the unit (you have a choice of 16 channels) everything worked perfectly and I could not tell that the signal was via a transmitter and receiver rather than a cable, there was no degradation of the sound at all, so I am very happy. Also - the unit was ordered from Maplin at around 4 p.m. on 28th March and arrived in the post on 29th March - so excellent service from Maplin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is fantastic! I purchased this as I am sick of running over my guitar cable and breaking them, thought this would be a good choice. It took me a while get it working, note to self - READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! once set up and paired, the sound quality was superb, you would think it was just through an ordinary cable. On testing the range, I could be at the opposite side of my house and it was still working! Very impressive indeed, highly recommended

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good piece of kit. Batteries included which is good as it takes two different types. Easy to set up but as previously stated, read the instructions thoroughly especially the bit about leaving the battery covers off until you have 'paired up' the frequencies. A huge -Beware- however. I was getting drop out at very short distances even in the same room. This turned out to be nothing to do with the device but the fact that I was using wireless headphones and they were transmitting / receiving in the same frequency range !!! In fact I could receive the guitar through the headphones directly which was no use at all as I was bypassing the pedal. I have kind of solved this by changing the frequency on the headphones and the wireless guitar device. Took some figuring out but now i can sit in the garden and practice and get full sound through the wireless headphones. I have both a Strat and Les Paul shaped guitars and it fits both. No sound quality impact as far as I can tell and more importantly for me, no noticable latency.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It feels a bit "rinky-dinky" when you first take it out of the box but this thing works surprisingly well. You DO need to read the instructions ( which aren't in perfect english) but it's relatively easy to set up. (Especially when it eventually dawns on you that the "infra red transmit " button they are talking about, is an absolutely tiny thing inside the transmitter). Batteries are supplied, even a nice little patch cord. And it all fits into a handy little plastic box. It's certainly very liberating not to be tripping over a cable every minute. Does it affect the sound of the guitar? - well I'm not 100% convinced it doesn't but I also reckon you'd need to have the hearing of a bat to tell the difference. So finally you can walk into the next room and hear exactly how annoying your electric guitar is. And if you're in a band, you could stand at the end of the hall and hear what you all sound like! One word of caution though. The instructions show two different designs of transmitter. Mines is a 90 degree plug which doesn't give me a problem. Might be a different story on a "strat" type angled jack socket though, so I think I'd want to check that it fitted before buying. They do seem to manufacture two distinctly different transmitters, from what I can make out -The other transmitter is angled, presumably for use specifically on strats. This is a LOT cheaper than the standard units most commonly used by gigging musicians. I have no reason to doubt its reliability but I think I'd still want a conventional guitar lead with me, if I was gigging, "just in case". Get it, you won't regret it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I got this Wireless unit for my son for Christmas and it works very well, with clear and true sound, amazing considering he plays Bass! The box sayФЗЦs 50hz to 20khz bandwidth but the lowest string, open E is 41.2hz Amazing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had this couple of years, and it worked more or less straight out of the box, once you set the channel (has up to 16 channels) via i-red, thats it. Primary use for quick practices anywhere from in the car with the microcube or even while watching tv, handy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant, works on my bass perfectly! Good range, really simple to use, sits nicely on top of my amp.

Where is the 'infrared ray transmit button' mentioned in instructions to scan the frequency? Is it the black button marked ACT on the receiver? If it is I cannot seem to program any frequencies with this button. Nothing happens? RX does not light up.

Asked by: richard
Its inside the wireless transmitter (Open the compartment to allow line of sight with the receiver). You should then get an LED lighting up to show it's paired.

How many of these could be running simultaneously before causing interference? 16 or 4? We would ideally like to use 6 of these at the same time for a show.

Asked by: Nico123
this would be fine with up to 16

Will this product work if connected to a keyboard such as an electric piano?

Asked by: MikeyP
Unfortunately we couldn't guarantee compatibility as an electric keyboard would have a line level output, while a guitar output would be closer to that of a microphone, which needs a pre-amp to reach that same output level.
