Build your own Arduino shield using the compact and flexible Proto Shield kit. Solder together a limitless range of circuits and reuse it in all your Arduino projects. A standard 0.1" prototyping grid accepts commonly used through-hole parts and chips. You could also find a range of basic components are included to help you get started with your custom shield.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quite poor with many issues I bought this as the cheaper of the two bare shield kits. Buy cheap, buy twice as they say. Firstly and mainly, the board is slightly wider than the arduino. Which means that it may well not fit into your arduino case. It won't fit into mine. Secondly the diagram for mounting the supplied components and the pcb diagram for working out where connections run is tiny and illegible. I can't for the life of me how they managed to the potentiometer to fit the board without serious pin realignment or exactly where I should place it. It wouldnt really matter, except I have no idea if the pot has hard wired connections to a particular analog in, because the diagram is soon poor.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Read this before soldering! When I built mine I thought there was a problem with the board, but actually the problem is with the images in the instructions. Do not attach male connectors to the underside of the board, solder the female connectors on the top of the board into the those holes and leave the long tails attached to act as male connectors (as arranged in other Linksprite boards). If the female connectors are attached as shown in the instructions they won't line up with subsequent shields. Too late for me though. Other than this the board is ok.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Prottyping Board Compared to other proto shield boards this has it all. With extra's thrown in for good measure including buttons, switches, LEDs, resistors, USB and a potentiometer. The included instructions are a little sparse and small but readable and the maplin site has a link to a web site with clearer instructions if needed. All in a great board for a good price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Allows 0.1 pitch perf/vero board projects to be easily installed. Have a good think about this before you start. I would suggest you stop after step 1 and dry fit your Arduino & Shields before continuing. If you want shields to be stackable then don't follow the instructions as mentioned on another review, use the female headers and solder without trimming the legs, otherwise they won't be stackbable. The female header legs are a little thinner than the male counterpart, so be careful if you repeated remove the shield as you could bend them. Make sure you don't short the Arduino with any components legs, eg reset LED, so keep them short. I've used three spaces to keep the board permanently installed and safely apart. There are extra components which are a bit random and don't really form part of the shield, other than a future project. Add components as you need them rather than solder everything on. For 5 stars, this shield has an additional row of female header for pins 0-13 that are standard 0.1 pitch perf/vero board spacing, so you can plug in any external projects that won't fit the Arduino pitch between pins 7/8.
