Product overview

• Complete 3 channel remote control system• Switches up to 12A at 230Vac mains• Up to 70m range• High security protocol• ‘Easy learn’ transmitter feature• Easy installation via screw terminals• Momentary or latching outputs• Requires no radio licence

A versatile general purpose remote control, which can be used for controlling many different applications such as garage doors, garden lighting, gate and door control, etc. The system utilises a highly secure code-hopping protocol to ensure safe operation. Easy to install, the receiver is connected using standard screw terminals and is powered from 12Vdc. The three output relays can switch up to 12A at 230Vac mains and are operated individually by pressing the corresponding keyfob button. Each of the relays can individually be set to toggle on/off or switch momentarily when the transmitter button is pressed. The system is supplied with one three-button keyfob transmitter and the receiver can learn up to a total of 6 keyfobs for multiple users. If a keyfob is lost or stolen, then simply reset the unit and teach it a new keyfob code. Additional three-button keyfobs are available: Order Code RN57M.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a really useful gadget. Just one issue. There was an older version which I had, on which all 3 channels had two way switching (ie worked with a lightswitch for dual access). This way the lighting circuit could be controlled by a traditional indoor switch on the wall and the remote control). This is really useful in a garden shed for example where you may not have the remote control with you. The current version only allows two way switching on channel 1. This means that if the unit malfunctions you will not be able to switch the lights on circuit 2 and 3 (ie the only way to work circuits 2 and 3 is with the remote control). This can be annoying if for example you cant find the keyfob or your wifes taken the car for a drive and you left the keyfob in the glovebox. A further word of caution. Its essential that you get the polarity right from the 12 v DC supply (not provided with the unit). Use a volt meter and do not guess as I've tried this (accidentally). The circuit board simply melted and that was cash down the drain. The 12 volt supply you get with a conventional set of garden lights is 12AC and cannot be used to power the unit. Finally when you open the box, you'll realise there are no holes for the wires to go in and out. The manufacturer has left this upto you, its not an error and is quite convenient to drill your own holes where you need it. With those words of caution, I'd highly recommend this unit. Dont waste time with the 1 and 2 channel version, just go for the 3 channel version, you'll find an excuse to use circuits 2 and 3 for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought one of these to control an industrial cleaning machine . BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!! . ME STUPID ME made an error in powering the unit , quickly sorted ( very politely ) by manufacturer . It has proved very effective over its stated working range for a very demanding customer . I am now hoping to build more

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Having spend many years shopping at Maplins, I was very I was disappointed, no disgusted, with the remote. Ad was gross misrepresentation. Case could not be used, needs redesigning. Not remote for gate and garage. Mine are fifty meters apart. pcb needs redesigning to fasten to base of some kind. I could go on. Moderator note: The remote module is suitable for garage or gate switching despite the comments to the contrary. It has not been stated why the case needs redesigning. If by "cannot be used" the comment is referring to the fact that you drill the exit holes, this is not a design flaw but a design feature to give customers the choice as to where they want them for their specific wiring requirements (as per previous reviews). Maplin always recommend contacting the technical support team if unsure as to the suitability or assistance is required with the use of a specific item. The technical team are happy to assist and advise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I found this product to be great for my purpose!! its not cheap but... I installed it in my motorhome and connected it to some internal lights and a new awening light. So, I can turn the lights on as I approach the vehical.. fitting was simple and I was really impressed with the way the unit chatters to you, to let you know you are programming in a new fob correctly.. brilliant!!

This should be suitable, however if you are only after a single button then the following kit may be more suitable; http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/quasar-single-channel-wireless-remote-control-kit-l26bk
