Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have looked at devices to copy vinyl to computer but too many seemed either very expensive or complex. Having read reviews of the Ion Quick Play, it seemed ideal. The order was delivered next working day and the item worked straight out of the box. The Mac software is fairly basic but again works perfectly and is ridiculously simple. An excellent product, well priced and Maplin's order and delivery service was excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful quick delivery, thanks. The turntable is so lovely and light but has a powerful sound with great tone and works beautifully. We are so very pleased with our purchase and would recommend this product to anyone as it does all it's meant to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant piece of kit This is so easy to use. Downloaded the software into windows 7 and downloaded iTunes thinking it was required, not so, the recorded music is placed into the 'my music' folder and once there you can rename it, move it, copy to cd etc. The arm is a little light on first use but soon settled down. The subsequent recording did not require any further work, played it on my sonos system and it sounded great. I have not experienced any of the other problems mentioned by other users, it worked straight out of the box. Thoroughly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely brilliant. I had been looking at getting all my vinyl converted to MP3, and i couldn't have chosen a better turntable. The design is great, sound is great and just really enjoying listening to all my old music again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The turntable and software works fine on the mac but recording from 78's not possible although sold stylus to use. moderator note: the manufacturer has been contacted by ourselves and they have confirmed that78's are supported when used with the correct stylus as indicated.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little turntable. Needed it to record an old 78 to CD and it did it with no problems when using the additional 78 stylus.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very adequate, some niggles As a hearing aid user, I may not be best placed to assess this unit, but I judge it very adequate for revisiting sentimental old vinyl. You would not expect tip-tip Hi-Fi performance at this price level. There is some turntable rumble. Surface noise is not obtrusive – whether because of digital filtering or just high frequency roll-off is not clear. There are some niggle features: 1) When transcribing, you have a choice: a) Use the facility to break the recording up into tracks. This works on half my records. For the other half it either misses short inter-track breaks, or perceived false inter-track boundaries in soft pauses in the music. (The short manual does warn you of this.) b) Sit over the machine to identify track boundaries. Straightforward, but possibly tedious. c) Record the whole record in one go. Often adequate for playback. However, in this mode (unlike automatic track identification mode), although the turntable stops, the software does not detect the end and records silence ad infinitum, until stopped manually. It is possible to clip off this silence with an MP3 editor like the free Audacity. 2) When using EZsoftware the music is placed into iTunes. Fine if you want to use an iPod or burn a CD, less convenient for other MP3 players. You can find the files in the iTunes directory, and identify them if you list in details mode and show album etc, but the file names are all iTunes-generated in the form temp***.mp3 – less than helpful.

I have installed the Mixmeister software that comes with the ION and downloaded ITunes as required. Yet when I try to open EZ Viny; Tape converter, a message box tells me to download ITunes (which I already have).
