The Raspberry Pi NoIR camera has no infrared filter on the lens, making it ideal for taking images in low light conditions and infrared photography. Get great quality images and use for time lapse pictures, security, triggered camera and anything you can think of. The camera can capture images or up to 1080p video and can be programmed using your Raspberry Pi for whatever projects you can imagine.
What projects can I build with the camera?
Capture unseen images with the Pi NoIR camera. This "night vision" camera board lets you take infrared pictures and videos - so you can film wildlife at night without disturbing the animals, or covertly protect your belongings in low light. No infrared filter means that if you use the module with an infrared light source (not included) the infrared will light up the scene like a spotlight with a conventional camera.
Take images at regular intervals and create a time lapsed image of flowers at night or watch nocturnal animals in the wild. Infrared is often used in security cameras to let you see what’s going on on your property even when it’s dark. How you use this camera is only limited by your imagination.
What image quality can my camera produce?
View the world in full 1080p video at 30 fps, or lower the resolution and up the frame speed with 640 x 480 pixels at 90 fps - whichever works for your project. The power is supplied via the Raspberry Pi and the camera is supported in the latest version of Raspbian. The 8MP Sony IMX219 image sensor can produce images with an amazing 3280 x 2464 pixel resolution to give you all the detail you could want. The 1.4µm x 1.4µm pixel with OmniBSL technology gives you high sensitivity, low crosstalk and low noise to give you the best image possible.
