About this product

  • Up to 11 minutes flight time on a full charge
  • Multiple flight modes
  • Self-stabilising flight characteristics

Product overview

• 1150mAh battery gives you up to 11 minutes flight time
• Without a permit, the legal range for a drone to fly is below 120m and always in the line of sight from the operator
• Check out The Drone Code or The IAA (ROI) for everything you need to be aware of when flying your drone
• Low battery LED indicator so you know when you need to charge the drone
• Multiple flight modes make it suitable for the beginner and expert alike
• Self-stabilising flight characteristics balance out small undesired changes while flying

What makes this drone different?
This drone is lightweight and still compensates for light wind. The RC EYE One S is strong, durable and is able to perform aerobatic tricks. It comes with three flight modes which range from beginner to expert so you will be able to find one to suit your skill level. This drone is also capable of carrying a GoPro camera, with the purchase of Maplin code A53RN, as well as modifying it with longer legs and bigger propellers. This will make it more stable in flight and protect any additions you wish to attach to the drone.

How easy is this drone to fly?
The RC EYE One S has the three flight modes beginner, sports and expert. These are designed to work with every pilot’s skill level. The beginner mode is for beginner pilots and will disable the ability to do flips so the basics can be learnt. The sports mode allows the drone to perform tricks and flips while still keeping the self-stabilisation active so you can get yourself out of trouble if necessary. The expert mode deactivates the self-stabilisation allows you to bank the drone at acute angles making it more agile and more responsive.

What other features does this drone have?
This drone comes with powerful motors which ensure a longer lifetime and will also power off if there is a motor jam which means the propellers will stop spinning and make unjamming easier. It also comes with an integrated LED which indicates the flight mode you are in and if your drone has a low battery.

Safe flying is your responsibility

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Quadcopter, but error in description This is a great quadcopter for a semi beginner, but don't be fooled by the photo of the product and product description. The line '• Additional camera tray for the Aerial Kit, suitable for GoPro®, SOCAM®, RC Logger and similar cameras' is incorrect as the camera tray/aerial kit are not included and are incredibly rare, almost impossible to get hold of. The photo is of a quadcopter that has been upgraded with the Ariel kit which is not included.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice starter quadcopter I got mine two days ago, Make sure you don't wander to far from the shop as mine had a bent leg on the first one. Also it cannot lift anything until you have the aerial kit, which if out of stock you can find a UK supplier on the list on the makers website rclogger. On my first flight outside it did what it wanted to do all by itself. Had to run down street to get it to land only throttle would work nothing else. You can only use altitude hold if you use the third mode out of the 3. Mode 1 is for indoors only as it needs the power of mode two outside to combat even the lightest wind.. Mode 2 for outside and mode 3 is for full (mad) mode. the Battery size of 800 milliamps is a bit like owning a Ferrari and only putting in a 1 gallon fuel tank in it. All the power but none of the range. The bigger battery is better but still not enough for a 20mins flight most other quads can do for the size and power of this one. And as it can take 100 g once it's got the aerial kit on a bigger battery with high capacity would've been more favourable than a poxy camera mount. But that's just me. Better range than the AR Drone but if you are new to quadcopters buy the AR Drone instead. If you don't mind the more user input needed then buy this one. It's good for the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Weak There are many drones at this price and cheaper that come with a camera, but despite having "EYE" in the title, this one does not. So be warned. I bought this drone because it appeared to better thought out than the cheaper drones.. it has brushless motors, came with spare parts and its flight time is 11 minutes rather than the 7-9 you normally get. Unfortunately it's a physically weak drone. In the 5-6 flights it's managed, one of the propellers came off in flight (fortunately it crash landed on grass). Before each subsequent flight I made sure they were screwed on tight. On another (albeit slightly heavy) landing a rotor arm broke (no spare part for that, so had to make my own). On another landing saw a propeller shatter into pieces (fortunately I had spare, I gather there are nylon replacements that last longer). Sadly its final flight was over our house, again a propeller came off, and the drone crashed onto the house roof, then fell onto the driveway and broke in multiple irreparable pieces. So that ~30 mins of flight time cost £100. :-( Sadly I cannot recommend this drone. I believe Maplin are going to, or have already discontinued stocking this item, so I'd caution anyone looking to buy one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Quadcopter - It works great. I've had a lot of fun with this quadcopter. It's taught me the basics of quad copter handling although the instructions aren't that clear. The actual quadcopter itself is brilliant. i've started tinkering and ordering spare parts and have moved on to it's sport mode from beginner.

Hi I received one of these at christmas. the controller left stick does not reset to middle, left/right spring works but up/down doesn't, is this normal or do i need to order a replacement. if i need a repl. where can i get one.

Asked by: mugway
Up / Down is throttle control and does not auto centre or return to base setting. It will stay where you left it, this allows you to set a pre determined amount of power and leave that setting constant as you control with the attitude controller stick.

I am pleased to advise the product you mentioned will do exactly what you require. The only thing you have not mentioned is the GoPro, but as you have purchased the GoPro tray I'll assume you already have the camera.

How long does the drone fly for on a charge ? How long does the battery take to charge ? Will a go pro camera fit?

I have copied it in below for your convenience Flight time: 6-8 mins for 800 mAh battery without payload 9-11 mins for 1150 mAh battery without payload (Times may vary depending on flight style and environmental conditions) If you purchase the optional camera tray (our code A53RN) and aerial Kit (A55RN) then you can attach a variety of different cameras such as GoPro®, SOCAM®, RC Logger and similar cameras
