I have a small TV, my original power cable went missing and I have no original documents, I know the voltage needed is 12v and I am wondering if this would be suitable to power my TV?

Asked by: Shaun
Sorry we would be unable to advise if you do not know the information regarding the original Power supply. There are 3 important specifications for a power supply that will determine the suitability of a replacement unit. Voltage level and type: This will be a fixed amount and either AC or DC Current: This is the amount of current in Amps or milli-amps that the device will draw. Polarity: This is the most important if the device is DC voltage. If you connect with the wrong polarity you will destroy your item even if the other two values are correct.

It outputs the right voltage with the right current. BUT BE CAREFUL This powerpack can be configured with a choice of POSITIVE or NEGATIVE TIP. Make sure you configure it correctly or you will DESTROY whatever you plug it into.

Would this be compatable for the power supply of a virgin media wifi hub? The plug has broken and the specs on the plug are as follows: Brand: Netgear 12v 350ma

Asked by: Ness
Going on the assumption that the 12v is DC then Yes this power pack will provide the correct voltage and amps. TAKE CARE : Because this is a DC power supply the tip can be configured to deliver negative polarity (NEGATIVE TIP) or positive polarity (POSITIVE TIP), it is imperative that you configure the tip correctly based on the TIP DIAGRAM either on the old power supply or on the device itself IF YOU CONNECT WITH INCORRECT TIP POLARITY YOU WILL DESTROY YOUR ITEM!

Would this charge a Johnlite torch, old charger lists Input 230v - 50HZ 8.5W Output 12V - 350mA, (Original charger is no longer available)

Asked by: power45
Whilst this charger is the correct voltage and suitable amperage you have not specified the polarity nor voltage type AC/DC. This is a DC power supply and tip polarity is crucial with DC connected devices, if you connect with incorrect polarity you will destroy whatever you plug the power supply into.

On this occasion, Maplin does not stock a product that exactly meets your requirements, or indeed anything close enough to offer you as an alternative.
