About this product

Product overview

• Visual deterrent to intruders/burglars with the illusion that someone is at home watching a 27 inch TV
• Realistic TV programme simulation with scene changes, light flickering, on-screen motion and unpredictable colour pattern changes
• Built-in light sensor turns the FakeTV at dusk with selectable timing settings giving the illusion that you at home
• Mains powered ensuring that the FakeTV is always powered
• Eco friendly with a power usage of two watts helps to reduce the running cost of the FakeTV

How does the FakeTV deter burglars?
The FakeTV acts as a visual deterrent by making thieves/burglars think that you are at home watching a 27 inch TV. It does this by mimicking what would be viewed if you were to actually watch TV with scene changes, light fades, light flickering, on-screen motion and unpredictable colour changes. The FakeTV is fully portable and easy to setup, providing you with a great visual deterrent.

When does the FakeTV turn on?
The FakeTV has three different operational settings which are ‘Dusk+4 hours’, ‘Dusk+7 hours’ and ‘on’. With the dusk settings selected, the FakeTV turns on when lighting conditions are quite dark (0.5 lux), with it staying on for four hours or seven hours after that. If you wish to have the FakeTV on at different times you can select the ‘on’ setting and use a timer (e.g. Order Code: N20JU), allowing you to fully customize it’s operation based on your preference. It operates at two watts, giving you a visual deterrent that is highly customizable and operates at a low cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great little anti-burglar device this is! I've had mine for a couple of months now, and I put it in our "computer room" upstairs at the front of the house. A couple of months down the line, I STILL arrive home at night and initially think that my son is home before me (a rare occurrence) because I see the flickering, and VERY convincing TV/computer lighting being emitted - despite the fact that there is a Venetian blind fitted at the window! Added to it's performance is the bonus that it costs virtually nothing to run! Brilliant!! As a bonus (and this could be another excellent selling point), I'm going to get another to use for when we're camping because it can also be powered off a 12volt battery if you don't have 240volts available. Nothing puts "tent-contents thieves" off more than believing that the tent is occupied!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I purchased a fake tv light earlier this year. When there was a spate of burglaries in our area This is a great device giving the impression that you are at home watching tv in bedroom. It is now on the top ten recommended security devices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from me myself i Purchased this a few months ago and gave it to the family next door as their property was going to be left empty for 3 months. Every night when i come home from work as I go down our shared drive, i think to myself "yay they are back". It fools me every night and I own the device ! ! ! Full marks for the money in my books.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. I bought a cheaper version but it was useless because it didn't have the same light patterns, colours or brightness. I'm glad I threw it away and bought FakeTV and I actually got 2 to use in different rooms. Buy the best, its worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When we had this out of the box, I didn't think someone so small would do very much, after all its meant to imitate a TV, which is a lot bigger. I must say I was quite impressed, it's better when its early to late evening, it imitates what I would classify as a 27" TV, randomly displaying different colours at different intensities. From outside it actually looks like the TV is on but without the noise. It has a setting slider at the top for Always ON, Turn on at Dusk for 4 hours, Turn on at Dusk for 7 hours and always On. This works brilliantly through a wall socket timer, one of those segment type ones where you can select when to have it on and off. That comes in helpful so it looks like the TV goes on and off at random times. If you do get one of these, it would be handy not to have the ceiling lights on; I would recommend having table lamps on instead otherwise it doesn't highlight the effect as much. Otherwise a good piece of kit, recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says on the tin my neighbours thought we were back home but we still had a day to go A brilliant item, really looks like your TV is on and you can put it to a timer so it comes on just before dark.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great idea I bought this as a gift for a family member. I have had one myself for six months. It's a good idea. Mine shows the TV light through glass doors. The timer is supposed to turn on/pff at set times after dusk or set periods after switch on but I find that it switches on and stays on until switched off.

If I leave it on and plugged in will it com on automatically, mine doesn't , I have to wppswitch the plug on. If so what do I put it on

Asked by: Mazzer
2. FakeTV will not turn ‘ON’ until it is very dark, (0.5 lux) almost pitch black. You can over-ride the automatic ‘ON’ dusk setting, say if it gets darker earlier than usual for the time of year (cloudy, overcast), by placing the switch on the FakeTV unit to the DUSK + 7 HRS position. If it gets dark later than usual (a clear bright afternoon/evening) then you can set the unit to the DUSK + 4 HRS position. Alternatively, you can give the appearance of a television left on all the time by leaving the FakeTV switch in the ‘ON’ position. If you wish to have the FakeTV on at times other than those provided by the light sensor, turn the FakeTV unit to “ON” and plug the AC Adapter into a plug-in timer socket. 3. Avoid these mistakes when using the FakeTV: I. Positioning the FakeTV so that it is directly visible from outside the property ii. Positioning the FakeTV with a window that is well lit by exterior lighting iii. Putting a light on a timer or any other light source in the same room as the FakeTV

Just purchased this product and I'm not sure there is a fault.  When I switch it on to four hours, there is a permanent red light on the display.  When I turn it on to seven hours, there are two permanent blue lights on the display.  Is this normal?

Asked by: Dezz
Yes this is normal of the device.
