What is the Roku 3 media player?
The Roku 3 is a media player and streaming device that connects to your TV to bring you all of your favourite shows and services. You can find your programmes and films in an instant using its very simple and intuitive interface.

It plays video content in full 1080p HD, with the option of the lower 720p should that be more appropriate for your media. The Roku 3 is very versatile, making it the perfect media player, taking input from a USB storage appliance, microSD card or streaming directly from the web.

The Roku 3 streams media over a broadband connection and gives you the option of either a wired or wireless connection. It takes only a few minutes to connect the Roku 3 to your Wi-Fi network or alternatively it has a 10/100 Ethernet port to connect a LAN cable to.

What features does it offer me?
With its wide selection of channels and enhanced remote control, the Roku 3 is a fantastic smart TV solution. At your fingertips this media player gives you over 1,700 channels alongside 250,000 TV episodes and films.

This remote control performs a number of tasks outside of the ordinary, including dedicated buttons for interactive games and motion control like that found on the Nintendo Wii controllers.

For those times when you need to watch TV quietly, the remote supplied with the Roku 3 offers an audio plug in point so you can listen through headphones. No need to fret if you do not have a pair, as some in-ear headphones are included with your purchase.

The remote comes with an embedded microphone, which you use to perform voice searches on the Roku Media libraries. This has the advantage of being quicker than typing your searches in and has a reliable translator engine to accurately detect what you have said.

You can search programmes by title, actor or director so that however you remember that show, the Roku will let you have access it in no time. To complement this, the Roku feed brings programmes you follow all together in one space which makes it easy to track your favourites.

What can it connect to?
The Roku 3 connects via the HDMI port to play video content on your TV or to play Dolby surround using Digital over HDMI. HDMI cable not included so please see our range here.

The Roku 3 plays content from your favourite free media streaming services such as iPlayer, YouTube, SnagFilms, Sony’s Crackle, Vevo, Rdio and many more.

You could even use this media box to watch 6 Sky Sports channels on the NowTV service or the latest series on Netflix, if you already have the appropriate subscription.

As a standalone machine, the Roku 3 play media from the USB flash drive or a micro SD. Connect the media player to your Wi-Fi network if you want to use this media player for more and get access to thousands of shows online.

The Roku 3 connects to your mobile and tablet, using DLNA technology, giving you the extraordinary ability to show your photos, songs and other media straight to your TV screen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roku is extremely easy to setup and use and works really well. The best thing for me is that you don't need a computer for streaming, unlike many other similar products, which is why we went with Roku. Regarding credit card number mentioned by the other reviewer - yes, you need to enter it during the setup, which is a but annoying, but you can remove it immediately after that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not sure what the previous reviewer found, but 4od, iPlayer etc are all there. The HD streaming is brilliant. The main reason for 4 stars is Roku insist on getting your credit card info unless you activate by phone. Otherwise the hardware is brilliant

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is an amazing little box does everything it says on the tin. Shame it doesnt have a web browser with java/flash... however non of them do... On the reviews below its all firmware related they are constantly adding new applications by firmware so if something is missing update it..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best PLEX player in the world! I now have 3 of these all hooked up to my computer so I can access my films and media from all over the world using PLEX. Its absolutely brilliant and I am also really pleased it comes with a world wide selection of plug adaptors for the power supply. Plus the power supply is dual voltage so can be use anywhere. Fantastic product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from As an American product I felt it was of little use to a UK resident unless you like US content. It has I Player, Demand 5 and NOW TV (pay to view) No ITV or 4OD I returned it after a week as I could not justify what it did for the cost

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All the players are there and can be added as channels Nice to use if you have a PLEX Media server too

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely Terrible Purchased on 4/2//2013. Firstly the device would not connect to my (Virgin Media) router. The manual and Roku help web page offered no solution. Eventually after a pro-longed internet search it appears ROKU have issues with MAC addresses on certain routers (VM being just one) and you either need to connect via an alternate means to the net (your smart phone, as a hotspot, for example) update then restart, otherwise you'll need to gain access to a secret menu and turn off ping plotters (or something like that). Once you have cracked that nut standby to provide credit card details, address and telephone number (all complusory) to ROKU. Then u need to do another internet search to find out how to play, for example, video files (the manual being useless) which involves installing extra software. So my advice avoid this device like the plague or allow several hours whilst you try and figure out how it works.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Over expensive for features, there are better alternatives The amazon fire tv has a wider selection of applications and content for the price
