What is heat shrink used for?
Heat shrink is commonly used for covering bare wire where it has been eroded away or chewed by a pet. It provides insulation to wires as well as protecting them and can also be used for covering small components like resistors.

What can I use to make the tubing shrink?
Any sort of heat is enough to make the heat shrink contract. Something as simple as a hairdryer is sufficient enough to make the tubing shrink. You are also able use a solder iron as long as you don’t touch the tubing itself. This makes it fully usable for everyone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good value, but too many large peices The only problem I have with this is the number of larger diameter pieces it contains, that I'll probably never use ! It could do with less of those and more smaller diameter pieces that I use a lot. But maybe that's just me :-)

I have installed some underfloor heating in a bathroom extension, and unfortunately before I got it connected we had a problem with rats that chewed the power supply cable. Would this product be suitable to cut and repair the damaged power cable.

Asked by: Scottydog
As Technical Support Advisors we cannot offer full advice on mains electrical installations, this job would be best left down to the professionals, if you are at all unsure we would strongly recommend consulting a qualified electrician for help and support or to complete the job for you.
