Sorry but there isn't a lot of data to work with here .. I'm thinking the RTL-SDR would be equipped with a reverse SMA connector, but don't understand why you would use a scanner aerial on such a device. could you please forward more details of the device you are using (including pictures if possible) and what you are trying to do to technical@maplin.co.uk we can then try to assist

I notice that the Royal one is very similar to this one apart from the antenna mounted on top, so is it alright to mount an antenna on this one for transmission

Almost any Scanner Antenna would be suitable but the connector would require refitting with an SMA type
