Rated 1 out of 5 by from Got this on sale for just a penny short of a tenner. I am sorry to say that this is useless against the neighbour's japping white terrier dog (looks like the one on the pouch of ceaser dog food). Even tried within a merely few feet of it. Perhaps it is because some pets hear a constant bombardment of ultra-high squeals from technology on a daily basis and so they are desensitized to what would normally be a shock hearing something ultra sonic. Also the audible setting (which sounds like a car alarm) doesn't work. I am considering aniseed. You know how dogs are with that stuff - as it is like catnip for cats.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Depends on what you want. 5* as laser light toy for the cat. My cat absolutely loved chasing the red spot. Zero * as a deterrent / repeller. My cat acted as a trial victim, and she just purred or came over as if to ask me "What's my problem? Same on cat 2, and friends house cat 3. This was all at 1 to 3 metre distance. No way would the tom cat intruder allow me to get that close, and as for 20m - LOL!! Maplin kindly refunded my money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bought as a deterrent for the incessant barking of the dog next door.Talking to the owner didn't work as it is down to other people walking past his house apparently!! The scatter gun has no effect on the dog at all, either on sonic or ultrasonic setting. It's back to basic yelling at the dog or using an air horn, neither of which is ideal but at least stops the barking for 5 minutes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from As you do you have to try it on your own pets. well I have two cats they both looked at me as if I was mad, and totaly ingored me. they did like the lazer chasing it all roud the room.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No good for cats, but does seem to work on fire-breathing dragons as I've not seen any of them around here lately :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This gadget works quite well! A blast or three quietens next door's barking dog where other means have failed, (shouting, cycle horn, train whistle and even a bit of bugle-ing) and that's without having direct line of sight either. It's not stopped the nuisance completely but is definitely effective and I have no doubt that the hound will eventually be silenced by 'training' it this way. Woof woof!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is absolutely useless on the cats, I have tried this on, that come into my garden. They don't remotely flinch, let alone scarper!
