• USB 3.0 (SuperSpeed) connections can transfer up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0, while the drive spins at 5,900rpm

• Manufacturer Code: STEB2000200

What can I store on this hard drive?
This hard drive has 2TB (2,000GB) of storage, so you have plenty of space to store your files. You can store up to 15.5 hours of 4K video at 30 fps, 66 hours of 1080p video at 30 fps, 500 two-hour DVD films, 640,000 digital photos or 33,600 hours of digital music.

What difference does USB 3.0 make?
USB 3.0, when plugged into a USB 3.0 socket, can transfer data up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t use it with USB 2.0. This hard drive is backwards compatible, meaning you are able to use it with USB 2.0, without the need to update your computer. This means you spend less time waiting to ensure your documents, pictures and videos are safely stored on your external hard drive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Delivery was quick and secure. The 2TB drive was not recognised by my new HP Pavilion laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium at SP1. I used Disk Manager to create two 1TB partitions that could then be formatted and work fine, but a 2TB version does not work. At one point I saw some files in the 2TB drive (Seagate Dashboard plus others) but was unable to view them again. Perhaps USB drivers for this version are wrong? Moderator note: the unit simply uses standard mass storage class device drivers as found on any plug and play OS. This sounds to be a system related issue rather than the device itself.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I bought this drive about 6 months back. After about 2 weeks use, it developed loud clicking sounds and would go to 'sleep' and awaken automatically when idle on both XP and windows 7 (really really annoying). Although Maplin were great and replaced the drive for me, it was exceptionally frustrating having to move around large files before being able to send the files back (I also lost files due to 'sector read errors'). So the brand new replacement arrived about 3 weeks later - and after about 1 month's use, has developed exactly the same problems as the previous faulty drive. Now I have to spend another day to relocate my files. :( I did some research on the internet and have discovered this is a well known/documented problem with the expansion drives. Unfortunately i have lost faith in the quality of this drive and seagate in general - try to avoid this if you can - I shall be contacting maplin for a refund!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from When it worked, the drive was very slow to access for either read or write. Spin speed was only 5400 rpm, not 7200. This is the third one of these drives to fail with the 'click of death'! Though this one lasted longer than the other two (Four months). I should've learnt my lesson Will not be buying Seagate again, but i'm currently stuck with another replacement for the failed unit. Buy something else, or do not use to save crucial data on

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I discovered, much to my dismay, that external drives are not indestructible. I lost a lot of data on one, so I have got another one to back up more!! The Seagate External drives seem very dependable. What I learned is that they get HOT when they are more than 500 gb, so using the bigger ones for storage rather than regular use, is the best way forward. This is my second Seagate, and it works great - easy to plug and save!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Had a seagate drive fail on me three times after just a few days. Have returned. Not Maplin's fault at all, but buy with caution as you may find that it is one of the drives that has "slipped through the net" as far as quality conrol is concerned! I'd advise looking at WD external hard drives. In my experience the quality is far better

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for backups I ordered this online and collected it from my local store within 30 minutes. I needed this to replace a Western Digital MyBook Essential which just stopped working after several years of good service. I use the free backup software 'SyncBackFree' to automatically back up selected folders and files on a regular basis. This Seagate drive just plugged into a USB 3.0 port and once I'd set the parameters in the backup software to point to it, works silently in the background (on my desk). I'd recommend this drive if you just need more space or wish to backup data on your PC or from another external drive. It is small enough to lock away when you're away from home.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very impressed with this 2T external drive. When I turn the pc off the drive turn itself off, however, it turns itself on again..... one can heard the fan. I'm sure that will shorten its life. I also own the 1T, no such issues with that one.

Will this work with the PS4?

Asked by: Aaron
It would depend on what you were looking to use it for. It should be fine for archiving and backing up the system, but the PS4 does not support the playing of games from an external drive.
