How many cameras can I connect to this DVR?
This digital video recorder (DVR) is great for anyone who wants to be able to connect and record footage from up to eight analogue cameras through BNC connections. The 960H resolution provides you with a 30 percent increase in resolution compared to D1 DVRs, resulting in greater detail and a wider area being recorded. Audio can additionally be added to your recordings with four phono ports available. The DVR can connect to a range of TVs and monitors with VGA, HDMI and BNC connections being made possible.

Can I view my cameras when I am away?
Remotely access and view your cameras when you are away by using the free Sentient Lite app for your smart device (phone and tablet). Connecting to the internet to allow for remote viewing is quick and easy thanks to the QR code set up. Alerts to your email can also be set up, so that when motion is detected or one of your cameras have been tampered with you are able to receive live coverage.

How long can I record for?
Record weeks of footage onto the pre-installed 1TB hard drive with motion detection and scheduled recording helping to keep unnecessary recordings to a minimum. Footage can be exported to an external USB device, giving you the option to create backups of your security recording for future use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seemed to work fine at first It was easy to set up however I wasn't using any of the more "advanced" features. The Sentient Lite application was very easy to set up to and worked well. However a month or so after setting it up Sentient Lite now only returns errors when trying to login. Looking at the connectivity from my iPhone the Chinese cloud provider (CloudVSP) is no longer responding. So I guess that's Sentient Lite somewhat useless.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great for motion sensing I have had this unit for almost a month and the firmware has some bugs in it. I set it up for motion sensing but it is very irratic. You change the setting slightly for one camera and it goes crazy sensing motion on every camera every second and you have keep making adjustments on every camera until it eventually starts to work correctly. It also goes crazy for no reason (at 7.36am!) on some days and also if there is a power failure or reboot. The motion sensing is not great - if someone walks up to the camera slowly, it will not detect them. The other problem is that the local IP address keeps changing for no reason. The last group of numbers should be 96, but it changes every couple of days (67, 65, 76, 101, it is now 10!) As I need to access my DVR through the network, it is very irritating to have to try every number between 1 and 255 to find out what it has changed to. If you don't want to use the motion sensing capability of a DVR or access it through a local network, this unit may be okay for you. One positive thing is that the remote viewing via an iPhone was very easy to set up using the QR codes and works well with the Sentient Lite app.

Bought this device, had a power cut and now an alarm is sounding repeatedly. Tried logging into the system and resetting but the alarm still sounds. Instructions too vague. Help?

Asked by: Andrew85
This information is presented in the user guide/datasheet for the device, which can be found on the downloads tab of the product listing. However if you are using a mobile phone or tablet to view our website it may not be visible. To this end I have copied in a link to the electronic version of the instructions as well as a brief summary of the requested information below for your convenience. Typically the alarm is to indicate a particular error condition, have you checked the log to see what is causing the alarm? This would then give you an indicator of what is causing the alarm condition. The info can be found in the user guide (see attached link) on pages 73 & 74 2.11.3 LOG Use this menu section to search through log information show in the main list. Log information includes: system operation, configuration operation, data management, alarm incident, recording operation, user management, and file management. Set the time section (Start & End times and dates) to look for a particular log and click the ‘Search’ button. The log information will display as a list (one page is 128 items). Press Page up or Page down button to look up and down the list. Press the delete button to clear all the log information.

Is this DVR comparable to use & connect with SonyAHD sensor 1.3mp infrared LED true HD camera as already have these cameras  fitted but need to replace DVR

Asked by: mark
Unfortunately this DVR would not be compatible with AHD style cameras. We do have the Swann 4400 series AHD DVRs which may be compatible but we don't have the Sony sensor cameras available to fully test.
