CCTV professionals and occasional CCTV users will enjoy this device which works with analogue and IP cameras. This device lets you test various aspects of a CCTV camera to help you solve issues and aid you when you are installing the cameras. It has two BNC ports for video input and output. This allows you to connect an analogue camera to the device, view it on the device and then additionally output what is displayed on the screen onto a larger monitor. The tester also automatically switches between NTSC and PAL video signals for a flexible tester that will work in various locations.
The tester works with IP cameras, allowing you to scan for a camera’s IP address, check whether or not an IP address has been taken (link monitor), run a PING test and check what the PoE (power over Ethernet) voltage is. This is especially helpful when setting up IP cameras because one IP camera can only have one unique address assigned to it. The PING test and PoE tests enable you to quickly check and diagnose problems with an IP camera before fixing your installation in place.
This tester’s PTZ feature means you are able to setup and monitor parameters/settings such as baud rate, protocols, camera IDs and check the image quality when zooming with the tester’s 10x zoom. This means with this device you are able to check a multitude of different cameras ranging from analogue to PTZ.
Finally, this tester allows you to test the audio that would be picked up from a camera and therefore help you to move the camera to another location based on whether or not the sound can be picked up. The 12V 1000mA power output socket also helps you to power a number of different cameras that you are trying to fix or install it. With the included LED light, you get a truly versatile tester that not only works with a diverse range of cameras but also at a variety of locations.
Does this tester record?
The tester has a micro SD card slot and thanks to this you are able to record and take snapshots of what the camera is displaying, with photographs being saved as a JPEG and video as an AVI file format. You are able to review both at a later date if you so wish and can be exported directly to your computer or laptop via the included USB cable. This versatile tester is packed full of features that vary from helping installation, to diagnosing problems and to finally helping you to pick the perfect location for your or your clients’ CCTV cameras.
