This solar LED security light is an environmentally friendly product as it is powered by solar energy. During the day, the solar panel converts sunlight into energy, which is stored in the rechargeable battery. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quick and easy to install. Pity the length of the charging cable is none adjustable and that the plug socket on the lamp is so "exposed" to the elements. The PIR is very sensitive. When lit, the lamp produces a strong beam that covers a wide area. However, the "head" of the lamp cannot be adjusted to point further "down" unless the lamp is mounted on a bracket holding the lamp at an angle away from the wall. If you require a PIR floodlight that requires no electrical expertise to install, this is a good solution for the price. It could have been excellent though. A shame that there seem to be a couple of design issues that could have easily been avoided.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful I bought one of these in autumn 2012 to illuminate the entrance of my garage. It's bright enough to see what you're doing, but not too bright to annoy your neighbours. I too had problems with the lamp head filling with water. It gets in at the movable joint, which I solved by filling this with silicone grease. I also drilled a couple of drainage holes in the bottom of the lamp. You can't adjust the sensitivity or light duration, but that's not a problem. After more than a year it's still working.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from After 3 months the fitting was half full of water. I could not find the receipt so did not send it back Maplins would no doubt have replaced it so save the receipt.The light was very good and worked well up to that time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value The PIR & solar panel is very easy to mount, the PIR light is NOT screwed down, it hangs on hooks, so It's very easy for someone to thieve it! If you mount it up higher than 3M the light output and sensitivity is still very good!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price but some drawbacks Having read previous reviews I sealed the solar panel with clear silicone sealant which solved the water leaking in issue described in other reviews. It is a great light and does what it says on the tin and as per the reviews indicated......but...... As it's solar, it relies on being charged by sufficient levels of daylight, which during winter months and dull rainy days, isn't always enough to charge it sufficiently. But that will be a problem with any device that is charged using a solar cell. Overall it's a great item for the price, nice and bright with a good sensor area coverage and sensitivity. No, you can't adust the time it stays on for but it depends how you want to use it and would recommend it to others wanting a reasonably priced solar PIR LED light

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value light Put this up to illuminate steps away from house. Works well and quite bright enough for job. Long wire to solar panel was handy as had to rig it on a homemade swan-neck mast (copper plumbing pipe) to see south over garage roof.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expensive for what you get The light is brighter than expected, but the plastic is so cheap looking I can't see it lasting long at all. It doesn't look all that waterproof, especially the very flimsy solar panel, so would have to be put somewhere sheltered. Very expensive for what you get!

Does this support both Rechargeable & Alkaline Batteries.Because this items suggesting frequently bought together with Alkaline Batteries,I feel this could mislead people into using & mixing Alkaline with Rechargeable batteries if this product doesn't
