Is this a double pole change over switch. I want to use it to switch an audio signal from headphones to speakers (soundbar)

Asked by: Mick in Merton
For us qualified electricians out there. I can confirm that this switch is what We in the trade used to call a double pole change over. Eg, two change over switches operated by one toggle. Hope this helps. I don't know who came up with the new terminology ( though not new any more) but i don't like it, and it's not the only thing that has a different name outside of the trade. Anyway. Your right. That's what it is and the answer you gait was not helpful at all.

Can this switch be used for model railway coloured signals?

Asked by: Papa Kuma
If the volts and amps do not exceed the rating of the switch yes.

Is the circuit made twice when switching the switch one way then back to the middle (I've once pushing forward once going to centre) and will the switch rest both ways and in the middle?

Asked by: Srpott40
This will depend in the way you wire the switch, a DPDT is designed to have two actions, so left would be one thing on, and right another thing on. Then centre for off, but there are a lot of other ways to use said switch.

Can this switch be wired to change polarity of wires coming in and out. So positive coming in and out changes to positive in and negative out and similarly with the negative

Asked by: Nige
Yes this can be done. Unfortunately we are unable to offer any circuitry or design advice ourselves, but there are several online videos that show how to achieve this.

Do both ends of a single contact need to be same polarity at 250v ac or can each common be configured to switch between live in one direction and neutral in the other?

Asked by: GNP1
I am sorry but the item in question does not support use in your intended application.

can these be connected to a 240v light?

Asked by: lydia
As the data on the listing indicates the switch is rated up to 2 amps @ 250v. Please exercise caution when working with mains voltages, if you are in any way unsure then consult a qualified electrical installer.
