What are the benefits of the OutbackCam?
The Swann OutbackCam is a great camera suitable for a variety of uses, whether you want to track wildlife in your garden or use it as a security camera to catch unwanted intruders on your property. With its IP67 rating, sturdy build and compact size it can be placed almost anywhere indoors or outdoors or even in a bird box. Battery powered so no wires are needed and with its own built in recording slot, the camera is completely standalone. Get great shots day or night with 15m night vision, 1080p resolution and 62 degree viewing angle. You can set your camera to trigger only when it detects motion, at timed intervals or a combination of the two. This gives you the chance to leave the camera in a position and not have to worry about it.

How does the camera record?
Everything you need to record on this camera is included in the box so you can set up straight away. The Swann OutbackCam has a SD slot for direct recording from the camera and can be used with an SD card (sold separately) with a memory of up to 32GB. This gives you the opportunity to take thousands of pictures and hundreds of videos on your camera. With video in avi and pictures in JPEG they’re easily transferable to your computer from your SD card.

Where should I put my OutbackCam?
The OutbackCam is designed to be used almost anywhere. Its IP67 rating means it will be fine with rain or mist and with its rugged design you can leave the camera in one location for as long as you want. The camera has a wide range of mounting options and comes with a mounting strap perfect for trees or posts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic even in wind and rainswept location Easy to set up even first time due to excellent manual-and all the animals were recorded with amazing clarity to 25 feet in the dark and 60degrees -in the day time in colour even further-in spite of wind and rain. Left camera in position 3 weeks with 160 animal triggers on 5 seconds run and batteries still fine. Easy to watch back immediately on the camera itself or computer (via usb supplied) or TV (AV lead not included) without ever removing memory card which can be reused. Recommended by the Edinburgh shop assistant. Loads of options via menu to delete, capture photos, videos or both at same time and video length can be adjusted from 5 seconds to 60 seconds after trigger. Also digital zoom and time lapse. Audio can be on or off etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Purchased this even after reading mixed reviews. I'm glad I did! I got it for approx £100 (had a free £30 maplins voucher to use). It works exactly as it should and produces some lovely photos and video footage. Plenty of settings to tweak and play with too! Comes with a strap and a usb cable and a cradle for securing to trees etc but it doubles as a extra battery pack too. The main unit holds 4 AA battery's and the cradle holds a extra 4 AA battery's if you need the extra power. Simple to use and deploy and it simply does what it's supposed to do. Great night vision images too (having max IR lights on can be a bit too bright for indoors so turn them down). It does run thru battery's pretty fast (when using just 4) but it does recommend to use Lithium battery's in the manual which will last upto 7 times longer than regular alkaline ones which I'm currently using. Overall a great buy and much better than the older outback cam maplin still stock. (The black one). 100% recommend this product! Rotherham store very friendly as always. Thanks!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Eats batteries & USB cable does not work 4 new batteries were used up in less than a day & night. The USB cable could not connect to either a television or computer (computer asked for disc, not supplied). Phoning Swann for assistance was a waste of time, they fobbed me off "you can download software to activate USB cable from their website, not true". Returned to Maplins, obvious defects, for money back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from super camera Bought for Father-in-Law, he's delighted as it shows the badgers digging up his lawn at night :o) Is a very good camera for the money, the motion sensor works well and great night vision too. If you're after a camera that'll work at night this one will certainly do the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My apologies! Sorry for my 'hasty' initial review. The first one I purchased appeared to be faulty. I now have a new fully functioning one and it's amazing. I'm now playing with the function settings to get the right shot. I'm impressed and would recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just didn't work Tried this for every night for 6 nights with different settings. It didn't take any video or picture of moving stuff in front of it. This included my and a child jumping directly in front of it. It did drain 8 AA batteries every night and you can't use re-chargeables as per the instructions. It also doesn't come with a SD card so you have to buy that separately. Sadly have had to return it which is disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work. I bought it yesterday, and deployed it last night. This morning, it had recorded nothing and the batteries were flat. Tonight I put in new batteries, checked the setup and deployed it outside. I tried to trigger it by walking around in front of it, but nothing. I'll return it tomorrow.

The box indicates wireless HD, I was told by Maplin staff at Belfast airport that it uploads to a cloud. Is this true? What does the wireless HD mean if this is not possible?

Asked by: Regs
No, This means the item is wireless ( no power cables needed) and it records in HD 720p 1080p etc.
